Rackmount FX Processor with Plasma-driven Distortion Generator

Three bands of studio-grade analog EQ combine with a one-of-a-kind saturation module in the Gamechanger Audio Plasma Rack. This powerful rack processor is built on the bones of Gamechanger's award-winning Plasma Pedal. Additional controls and a larger tube structure make this unit a versatile exciter/deconstructor for any source you're likely to encounter in a studio setting, whether you're adding grind to guitars, sustain to synth bass, or dirt to acoustic drums. Like the Plasma Pedal, the Plasma Rack converts incoming audio into a beam of electricity to marinate your sounds in a quick, responsive, syrupy distortion. Not only that, but a wet-dry Blend control lets you control just how subtle or prominent your FX are. There's even a tri-mode tremolo circuit with classic, dynamic (ducking), and out-of-phase modes, which can take you from subtle pad movement well into ring modulation. Then there's the Oversature control, which, when combined with the Voltage (gain) and Sustain controls, can take your source material from crunchy to crushed to unrecognizable in seconds.

Science…

"In essence — you are playing a bolt of electricity."

Gamechanger's Plasma Rack is unlike just about every other drive, boost, and distortion circuit on the market. Rather than relying on clipping diodes, driven tubes, or transistors to achieve breakup, the Plasma Rack converts audio signals into "a series of continuous high-voltage discharges" within a xenon-filled vacuum tube. These discharges are instantly converted back to an analog signal that's laden with gooey harmonics and otherworldly distortion artifacts.

What does that tube do?

The charged xenon tube inside the Gamechanger Plasma Rack is no pony show. It's actually being used to process your signal. The generated beam is your input audio — be it a synth lead, drum sequence, or bass line — represented as an electrical discharge, enriched with harmonics and hard-gating characteristics that'll really make your parts stand out in a mix. The included tube is rated for around 70,000 hours of playtime. Replacements are available directly from Gamechanger Audio in the event of damage on the road.

The Plasma Rack's extra-large xenon tube conducts audio signals at voltages up to 5,500 volts.

…Meets Sound…

Powerful 3-band analog EQ

Musical and expressive, the Plasma Rack's expanded EQ section makes it a versatile tone shaper for any studio source: drums to guitar to vocals.

Hard-edged distortion and gating

The Gamechanger Plasma Rack's xenon tube infuses incoming audio with all the chaos and unpredictability of a bolt of electricity. Sustain and Oversaturate controls add bite, fullness, note length, and harmonics to incoming signals. An additional Clean Gate feature allows you to harness the Plasma Rack's natural tube gating without adding saturation.

Tri-mode tremolo

The Plasma Rack can gnarl up your audio with an optional tremolo circuit. Positive and negative Depth values control the swing of the pulse, with wet and dry signals either in phase or out of phase. Increasing the Rate control past 12 o' clock makes the tube scream in high-pitched filter-like protest.

MIDI sync and save states

CC control over all parameters and eight preset slots provide total recall over your favorite drum, guitar, and vocal settings in the Gamechanger Plasma Rack.

Blend wet and dry signals

One of the most exciting controls on the Plasma Rack has to be its wet-dry Blend control. This allows you to gain articulation and color in ways that traditional saturation modules could never achieve.

…in the Gamechanger Plasma Rack

The way we hear it, the folks at Gamechanger were sipping beverages outdoors on their porch one summer evening and watching bugs being picked off by their bug zapper. And like electricity, the concept behind the Plasma series took off like a lightning bolt.

Many effects units can claim to be "game changers." But with its Plus and Plasma units, Gamechanger Audio of Latvia has really earned the title. These uncharted FX units and modules allow musicians from all realms — guitar to bass to synth — to interact with their music in new and exciting ways. Reviews

Unique distortion
GameChanger audio is exactly what this is. I couldn't be happier. I use this a lot of times on my drum machines and it just blows my mind what kind of sounds you can come up with. Down the road. I am planning to get one more so I can use it as a stereo effect.
Lots of possibilities
Granted I needed a single outboard eq but wanted something a tad more. This thing sounds really cool. The distortion I'd say is to taste. Me personally I really dig. The unit is heavy, well built, well packaged and looks good. Not gimmicky like some reviews online discuss. Expensive yes. But there's a lot of options with this. It can go from slight to mangled. I find this unit to be inspiring and different. The tremolo sounds really good on it's own. Going from this into some eventide pedals straight into a isa 2 sounds great with guitar and synths. I recommend this if you are heavy into studio work and want more than what's already out there.
Music background: Unprofessionally Kinda In the game
Fuzzy time
This thing is a lot to get to know but once you dial it in you are able to shape some great sounds
