Compression, harmonic, and stereo enhancements
With three distinct modules — Compression, Harmonics, and Stereo — Hype is all about letting you have better control of the energy of your mix — at any level you need. The Compression module comes with six different modes to choose from: Slam, Brick, Gentle, Gated, Opto, and Combo. Choose Slam or Brick when you want an aggressive compressor for heavy projects, or go the opposite route and use a lighter touch with Gentle. Gated gives a compression style unique to Hype that pairs a clean compressor with a noise gate, while Opto is more like a traditional opto compressor to give you a familiar compression profile. Swap to Combo to get a melded experience of the Slam, Brick, and Gated modes that can shine with drum overheads or room mics.
The Harmonics module lets you add harmonic content to your mix without worrying about unwanted distortion in louder sections typically seen from boosts in gain. Choose from multiple harmonic styles for your lows, mids, and highs that can either be applied uniformly or individually for a truly singular harmonic texture. Not only does Hype let you widen or narrow the stereo profile of your mix, but you also have the option of manipulating your wet and dry stereo placements independently to create unique tonal soundscapes for ambient tracks, lo-fi instrumentals, or ethereal experiences. All three of these modes utilize a similar user interface profile in sync with an aggregate control scheme and modular presets.

Aggregate controls and pollinated presets
Efficient algorithms wouldn’t have quite the same effect without an efficient UI layout. For Hype, ADPTR Audio has implemented a control layout that allows you to set parameters uniformly, separately, or separately with the Aggregate knob giving you an average representation of all three knobs that scales all three relative to their current position. This aggregate functionality means you can keep the relationship between your lows, mids, and highs as you adjust their overall levels — a multiband control knob that doesn’t alter the ratios of your mix. Once you’ve dialed in your settings for a particular module, you can then use the Lock button to keep your settings from changing as you audition different Compressor or Harmonics modes. Compare different sine wave texture treatments to a vocal or wind instrument, or weigh the differences in the Slam Compressor vs. the Brick. Hype lets you audition with ease without having to worry about one setting potentially having an advantage or disadvantage from changing volume levels.
Linear filters and ignoring loudness bias
Sculpt the perfect vibe for your mix without worrying about phase relationship disruption with Hype’s linear filters. Engage in parallel processing or bus processing while maintaining superior sound quality as the linear filters maintain the phase relationships of your project. Engineers at all experience levels can succumb to loudness bias and evaluate a change as better from a volume increase or worse from a decrease. With Hype, ADPTR Audio uses an Auto Level algorithm that adjusts for volume discrepancies so you can compare small adjustments, swap presets, or turn modules off completely without a significant change in the volume level that you experience. Another volume-related feature is Final Clipper, which allows you to apply a brickwall limiter for high-peaking transients at the final stage of the processing chain that can be applied to either the whole mix or just the wet signal.
