Add vintage character with Tube mode, introduce a touch of grit with Germanium, or keep things clean and transparent with Solid-State. Compression plays a critical role in shaping vocal tone — something Sweetwater engineers know well — and Vocal Studio’s compressor section is built to deliver. Inspired by iconic British consoles and cutting-edge digital algorithms, its three compression styles work seamlessly with your chosen preamp flavor to lock your vocals into place in the mix. Whether you're after subtle, transparent control, punchy dynamics, or gritty texture, the Natural, Modern, and Gritty modes have you covered. Round things out with an easy-to-use De-Esser to smooth harsh sibilance, and a precision Gate to clean up background noise from your recordings.
Carve out the perfect vocal EQ
Pulsar Audio's Vocal Studio supplies you with two distinct ways to tackle the EQ of your vocals right in the center of the plug-in. For quick and effective EQ on background vocals, select from the ready-made tonal presets. When it’s time to dial in a more detailed sound for lead vocals, switch to the parametric mode, which features a traditional EQ visualizer that makes it easy to spot and shape key frequency areas. To further refine your vocals, Pulsar Audio has included a dedicated Focus EQ band, designed to enhance air and presence without overpowering the mix — you'll find this particularly useful for pop vocals that need to sit confidently at the front.
An arsenal of effects potential
In the bottom-left section of the Vocal Studio UI, you'll find the heart of its creative FX engine. From subtle enhancements to dramatic transformations, these tools let you shape your vocals with precision and flair. Instantly widen mono vocals with Wide Stereo, drop them an octave with Thick Octave, or add spatial depth using Wide Octave. Whisper effects like Soft Breath, HF Whisper, and Wide Whisper add airy, ethereal layers that are perfect for pop and ambient textures. To thicken background vocals or add subtle motion, try Classic Chorus or the phaser-style Phasy Motion. Vocal Studio also includes three unique FX combos: Wide Movement (Phasy Motion and Wide Stereo), Breathy Octave (Thick Octave and Soft Breath), and Ultra Large, which combines all three for a bold, immersive vocal presence.
While the FX bank offers 11 ready-to-use vocal effects, the lower-right section of the UI is where you’ll find deep customization for Delay and Reverb. Delay settings include type (like wide or narrow tape delay), timing, ducking, drift, and filter range — giving you everything from a light slapback to full '80s drama. The Reverb section offers classic room types (studio, plate, or hall) along with controls for pre-delay, brightness, ducking, stereo width, and filter shaping.
