Inject AmpliTube and Other Apps into Your Pedal Chain

How would you like to insert your favorite mobile and desktop apps into your pedalboard signal chain? The Orange OMEC Teleport unlocks this ability and more. This compact plug-and-play (no drivers required) USB audio interface packs high-precision AD/DA converters and stereo outputs into its Twinkie-sized chassis. Insert at the end of your chain to capture all your favorite pedals on the way into your virtual amp rack, or use it anywhere as an insert effect. A quality buffered input preserves your signal integrity through long cable runs, while stereo outputs allow you to run out to an amp and house PA/recording medium simultaneously. Whether you're looking to travel lighter or seeking fresh inspiration, you'll find what you're looking for in the Orange OMEC Teleport from Sweetwater.

Gig lighter. Perform brighter.

As we see it, the OMEC Teleport meets two major needs. First, it allows the fly-dater and busking musician to travel lighter than ever before — just a guitar, phone, and the OMEC Teleport are all you need to get inspiring Orange amp tone into a PA or travel amp. Second, it gives all musicians the ability to incorporate their favorite apps — amp sims, virtual FX, instruments, and more — into their stage and studio signal chains, in a compact pedal format with familiar bypass switching mechanism.

A nod to Orange's digital roots

You may be surprised to learn that Orange — king of the valve amp — pioneered the first digitally controlled guitar amp. It was called the OMEC (Orange Music Electronic Company) Digital, released circa 1975, and was capable of storing and recalling preset sounds. The OMEC Teleport carries on Orange's spirit of digital innovation by allowing today's players to use their favorite virtual racks and FX as easily as a traditional guitar-amp setup.

Includes AmpliTube Orange Edition

Your Orange OMEC Teleport includes a free download of AmpliTube Orange Edition, with four Orange amp models, matching Orange cabs, and a choice selection of stompboxes to generate royally good tone straight out of the gate. This app also features a loop drummer for song building and a single-track recorder (unlockable to eight tracks) to bottle inspiration when it hits.

Orange OMEC Teleport Features:

  • USB audio interface in a compact pedal chassis
  • Inject AmpliTube and other apps into your pedal chain
  • For guitar, bass, keys, and more
  • Real pedal impedance — won't suck tone or negatively impact response
  • High-quality AD/DA converters
  • Mono 1/4" input
  • Stereo 1/4" outputs
  • Uses a standard 9-volt pedal power supply — not powered by USB
  • Includes AmpliTube Orange Edition with 4 Orange amps and 7 stomps

Reviews

Just What I Needed!
Perfect for running my guitar signal through my computer and ultimately to my amp. One complaint...does not come with a power supply. Otherwise, awesome!
Music background: Hobbyist
Serves a need - no way to blend without latency
Primary advantages of OMEC over a cheap bus-powered audio interface:
1. it has a bypass footswitch
2. it is small and sturdy enough to live on a pedalboard
3. even when not connected to a computer (does not rely upon bus power)
4. the I/O impedances are finely tuned by Orange to work with guitars and amps

Primary disadvantages:
1. no direct input monitoring!
2. cannot be bus-powered, which is annoying for all non-pedalboard scenarios
3. no input trim or output level controls

What does "no direct input monitoring" mean?
If you want to mix your direct guitar signal with synth or effect output ( e.g. from Jam Origin's audio-MIDI software) with NO LATENCY, you will need to add a signal splitter before the OMEC and a small pedal-format mixer after OMEC. It annoys me greatly that they didn't include a 50/50 switch at least. If you want to use the OMEC optimally in this way, you will be shopping for things like the Electro-(inexpenseive) Harmonix Switchblade Plus to go in front of this, and the (expensive) Saturnworks Mixer or Lehle Parallel L to go after it, doubling overall cost and quadrupling the pedalboard footprint.

Alternatives:
The $59 Behringer MIC500USB is tempting in that it include a "direct monitor" switch, but it has only a headphone output, no line-level outs. Adding a Radial ProD2 for $150 would solve that, and give you XLR PA/recording outputs in addition to your 1/4 outs - a significant advantage, though you won't be able to mute the computer output with a footpress,a significant disadvantage.

The $29 Behringer U-Phoria UM2 comes close for $29, but it has only RCA outputs. which again could be padded with a stereo DI. Unlike the MIC500USB however, the UM2 is bus-power only, so it won't live on your pedalboard unless you want your computer to be part of your system every single time.

Perfect for my home projects
I know this small pedal has huge live performance possibilities, but it is also great for a smaller home studio application as well ! I have been using it a my main interface for piano, guitar, and other inputs into my DAW. The recording quality is great and once the parameters are set, latency was not a problem :) I have the outputs to a stereo y cable for headphone monitoring, quick and easy, plug and play, and your on your way. The only draw back is the limited stand alone applications (VST), without a driver some of them will not work without using your daw as a host.Short of that it has been a great addition to my gear. ROCK ON :)

Does what it's made to do
Pretty cool to have an interface this small. I'm using it with the Fishman Triple Play and Mainstage. Haven't noticed any latency.
Unique and simple to use
The Omec Teleport is a compact USB interface with a footswitch that can take your computer or mobile device out of the signal chain, allowing you to easily integrate your computer/iPhone/iPad or other device with your guitar setup. It's a great concept, similar to the iRig stomp but with much better sound quality and compatibility. Here are the pros: Small, footswitch to take out of signal chain, easy to use, proper input impedance so doesn't degrade guitar tone at all, solid build. Here a the cons: Requires Apple USB to Lightning adaptor to work with iPhones/iPads, requires DC power to operate (cannot be bus-powered), often whines when powered via daisy-chain tied to other effect pedals (at least my analog pedals) so really needs separate or isolated power, no blend pot or output volume pot, so-so latency (akin to other standard USB interfaces, so about 7-10 ms of latency with lowest buffer setting - I measured the round trip latency with my Macbook and different software - it's always noticeable, though not terrible.) In any case, there's nothing like it on the market so all in all, it really fills a void.
