Historic Ludwig Sound Takes on a New Form
Ludwig’s acoustic drums have been industry icons for over a century, so when Sweetwater drummers discovered Ludwig was developing an all-electric kit, we were chomping at the bit, sticks in hand. The Verse combines Ludwig's legacy sound, expressive pad technology, and full studio integration in a single, adaptable kit. The Verse module includes 380 sounds (many inspired by Ludwig’s most famous drums), 20 factory kits, and 20 user kits, all intuitively organized and ready for immediate playability. Each kit preset also includes assignable MIDI maps for easy integration with your favorite drumming software. Other features, like onboarding recording, Bluetooth, and a 1/8-inch aux input, are sure to supercharge your practice routines. Perhaps most importantly, Sweetwater drummers are happy to report that the pads feel great to play. You’ll receive dual-zone 8-inch pads for the drums and 10-inch dual-zone choke-able cymbals, including a variable hi-hat. Finally, the Verse ships with a single bass drum pedal, so all you need to add are your favorite drumsticks, headphones, and throne. Whether you’re a beginner looking to develop your chops, a gigging drummer in need of a silent practice setup, or you're looking to record with your favorite drum software, the Ludwig Verse checks all the boxes.

Into the Ludwig-Verse
The Verse module is the command center for your new Ludwig e-kit, and it packs a punch. Many of its 380 sounds are directly inspired by Ludwig’s most esteemed acoustic drums and are pre-packaged into 20 factory kits. You'll also receive 20 user slots for creating your own custom drum sets. The Verse lets you adjust your kit's sounds to a considerable degree, with options for Volume, Tuning, Pan, and Muffling. With the onboard looper, you can save a single file and record up to a thousand notes, making it a worthwhile tool for developing rhythmic ideas. Other practice-forward features include the 1/8-inch aux input and onboard Bluetooth, which make it a cinch to jam along to your favorite songs or drum lessons. You’re also covered for recording or performing with your Ludwig Verse via its USB-MIDI port and dual L/R mono outputs.
Dual-zone drums and cymbals
Rimshots, cross-sticks, and dynamic nuance are all possible on the Verse thanks to its dual-zone drums and cymbals. The variable hi-hat particularly stands out with its range of possible articulations, including closed, half-open, open, foot-chick, and foot-splash. Perhaps best of all, the entire Verse kit is mounted to a compact rack system that will fit in any space with ease.
The Ludwig legacy
With a proud legacy that dates back to 1909, Ludwig drums are a favorite among Sweetwater drummers for their warm, punchy sound. The world has heard them in front of
Cream’s Ginger Baker, keeping the pulse behind Queen at Live Aid, and laying down the monstrous sound of Led Zeppelin’s “When the Levee Breaks.” But the company’s biggest break came when Ringo Starr proudly played them on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. Ludwig drums of today continue to carry this impressive legacy forward.
