The fact that you van change the head on these makes them superb. Pad is sturdy, sealed, durable plastic top, covered with a 1 ply coated 14" ambassador style head. Check out my photo for a look under the head. This may be an older model, but looks exactly the same as current design.

Excellent item

I had an original quiet tone pad that finally after decades of use needed to be replaced. The new version is much improved. I cannot believe how much quieter it is vs. The vintage model. I am a little disappointed that the legs do not adjust like the original but i did manage to deal with it. I highly recommend and thank sabian for still making this pad. I will soon be getting a 2nd one. And sweetwater is my go to for all my equipment needs.

I had one of these pads bought about 8 years ago and the patch was an Aquarian brand with an incredible sandblasting. Now you can see the transparency of the patch and the lower quality of it. Anyway, the pad is excellent and the patch can be changed. I hope they have fixed the problems with cutting wood that did not allow another patch to be put in previously.
