Alvarez Laureate — Poetic Qualities Worth Reveling In

For distinguished tone, looks, and performance at an enticing price, the LDR70e Herringbone Sunset Laureate Series dreadnought 12-fret acoustic-electric guitar from Alvarez deserves a top spot on your list! An ultra-premium spruce top and rosewood back and sides give the LDR70e Herringbone Sunset stunning warmth and tonal depths with a sophisticated sound that only solid tonewoods can deliver. The LDR70e Herringbone Sunset’s ebony fingerboard and inviting mahogany neck fuel a robust playing experience and instill confidence that helps realize the infinite potential of the slope-shouldered dreadnought body shape. Moreover, onboard HiFi electronics from LR Baggs empower players to amplify onstage or record directly with stalwart quality that’s strikingly true to the LDR70e Herringbone Sunset’s unplugged sound. Are you searching for a hardworking acoustic guitar built by discerning hands? You can’t go wrong with the Alvarez LDR70e Herringbone Sunset Laureate Series dreadnought from Sweetwater!

Crafted from rosewood and spruce

The term “laureate” signifies a significant achievement, success, or insight — a title earned with years of mature ingenuity. The LDR70e Herringbone Sunset Laureate Series acoustic guitar’s sophisticated design embodies that laureate spirit with a spread of premium solid tonewoods enhanced with decades of Alvarez expertise. Tonewoods were sourced from fanciful locales to ensure beauty and performance. Solid East Indian rosewood back and sides give chords and fingerpicking the right amount of depth alongside the pristine note-by-note definition that makes rosewood an enduring favorite. An exquisite AAA Sitka spruce top brings dynamic power to rosewood’s depths with touch-sensitive playability that can whisper soft and sweet or roar to life with assertive force — it all depends on how you play. Moreover, the LDR70e Herringbone Sunset’s sound chamber is braced with forward-shifted spruce, a modern update to a classic bracing that gives the LDR70e Herringbone Sunset incredible volume potential without compromising note definition. To top it all off, the Herringbone namesake brings forth an iconic binding design that looks sharp in the hands of any discerning guitarist.

Hardware details that make a difference

The LDR70e Herringbone Sunset Laureate Series guitar spares no detail, even when it comes to the small things. A plethora of premium hardware ensures this guitar is both beautiful and rugged, so you can rely on it for years to come. A true bone nut and saddle maximize the vibrational transfer from the strings to the body, ensuring you get the purest tone possible. The bridge is made from ebony, which also enhances vibrational transfer. The slotted headstock features tuning machines with an upgraded high-performance 20:1 gear ratio for precise results that hold tunings accurately and for longer.

LR Baggs HiFi amplification

The LR Baggs HiFi system is everything players want in an acoustic-electric pickup: balanced sound, noninvasive design, and an impressive resistance to feedback. The system is beyond reliable and offers over 700 hours of use on a single 9-volt battery. Consisting of a HiFi preamp, two bridge plate sensors, a discrete end pin jack, and Volume and Tone controls, the HiFi’s magic lies in how the system preserves acoustic integrity. The bridge plate sensors use materials and placement that listen to acoustic movement and tonewoods without dampening natural resonance. These sensors are guests of the sound chamber, not intruders, and what you hear is your guitar’s inherent sound and nothing more.

Reviews

Wow
Incredible guitar, beautifully finished and sounds spectacular. I got to play the 000 12 fret as well which was very tempting but ultimately I opted for the dread. This thing has an intoxicating blend of clarity and power. Eastman and Yamaha used to be best of breed in this price range (imo), but I think Alvarez has taken over at this point with the Laureate line.

Great looking and playing Guitar. Wonderful full tones. Action slightly high for me, a little saddle adjustment solves. The strap button on the bottom of the heel needed to be moved to the neck joint. Overall, very happy with my purchase.

Great guitar
I've gotten numerous compliments on how good this guitar sounds. It looks great , plays great and sounds great for the money, You can't go wrong. The only issue I had with it was that while it says it has a one and three-quarter inch nut. It has a one and three-quarter inch neck but the string spacing on mine anyway seems to be more like you'd find a one and 11/16 I'm changing that out and I'm sure it'll be fine and thanks to Rodney andSweetwater for checking that and setting me up with a nut to swipe out with.
