Legendary Jumbo with a Tonewood Twist

The Gibson SJ-200 Studio is a fine acoustic-electric guitar, retaining the tradition and excellence of Gibson's storied Super Jumbo "King of the Flat Tops" line. Yet it does it in a more affordable package with a unique take on the model's tonewoods. The SJ-200 Studio's simple elegance begins with its classic Sitka spruce top and attractive walnut back and sides, giving you a full and balanced high end with the Super Jumbo's signature grand projection. And, for smooth and comfortable playability, the SJ-200 Studio's walnut-capped mahogany neck boasts a comfortable profile with a rolled edge. When it's time to take the stage, the onboard LR Baggs electronics deliver tones that are fit for the stage.

New Tonewoods on a Familiar Design

Primed for the stage and studio, the Gibson SJ-200 Studio sports unique tonewoods combined with Gibson's classic strong-voiced Super Jumbo body style. Onboard, you'll find a solid Sitka spruce top for projecting the guitar's massive low-end punch. The SJ-200 also boasts elegantly figured walnut for the back and sides. With a similar voice to maple, this SJ will deliver the punchy attack and pillowy bass that it is known for. Other touches include a comfortable mahogany neck that is capped with a walnut fingerboard and crown inlays.

LR Baggs Element Bronze acoustic pickup system

To provide you with a natural sound that faithfully captures the true character of your guitar, Gibson selected LR Baggs’ Element Bronze electronics. The Element Bronze features a low-profile under-saddle transducer with a unique flexible sensing element, which — at only the thickness of a hair — is highly responsive to string vibrations. Unlike other under-saddle pickups, the Element Bronze does not respond to pressure, thereby eliminating the notorious piezo “quack!” Instead, you’re treated to a warm, open, and dynamic amplified acoustic tone with a delicate high end, crisp mids, and focused lows. Now, when you step onstage, you’ll never feel like you’re sacrificing your tone for the convenience of plugging in!

The Gibson Super Jumbo

Gibson's Super Jumbo guitars were originally built to cut through the loudest acoustic ensembles, allowing them to compete with the mandolins and banjos that were prevalent in "pre-amplified" times. It's still a thrill to hear the well-balanced sound of a Super Jumbo ring out loud and clear, the massive body pumping out a throaty tone that's equally great for high-octane strumming and delicate fingerpicking. Everyone from arena rockers to country artists to blues greats choose these guitars for their incredible sound, projection, build quality, and stunning looks.

Gibson SJ-200 Studio Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:

  • Super Jumbo with a contemporary tonewood combination
  • Sitka spruce top delivers plenty of punch
  • Walnut back and sides adds a rich tone and tons of resonance
  • Advanced Response neck carve helps you perform to your potential
  • LR Baggs Element Bronze acoustic pickup system provides natural plugged-in tones fit for the stage
  • Grover Rotomatic tuning machines offer rock-solid tuning stability
