T-style Guitar with Snarling Vintage Tone

Looking for a vintage-flavored electric guitar with undeniable style and snarling tone? Then plug a Schecter PT Special into your favorite amplifier. Built from a solid slab of swamp ash, this T-style axe simply bleeds harmonic resonance, while a custom set of Diamond pickups serve up classic, muscular-sounding tones by the truckload. You also get a push-pull that toggles between series and parallel pickup wiring, providing access to a multitude of mind-bending tones. The easy playability of the PT Special’s satin-finished, rosewood-capped maple neck and top-shelf hardware, including Grover Vintage tuners put the finishing touches on the PT Special.

Stunning PT-style construction

The PT is one of Schecter's most identifiable models. Since its beginning in the hands of Pete Townshend, the PT has been a dyed-in-the-wool rocker while tipping its hat to a vintage platform. The PT Special’s swamp ash body yields a balanced, musical blend of brightness, warmth, and harmonic-soaked midrange. The guitarists here at Sweetwater really dig the PT Special — it’s a top-shelf vintage-style electric guitar.

Two custom pickups, tons of amazing tones

Schecter didn't just give their PT Special any old set of pickups, they outfitted it with a pair of their innovative Diamond pickups. The Diamond VT-1 bridge single-coil yields a vintage-tinged blend of clarity, twang, and muscle. The Diamond V-90 neck pickup exhibits a P-90-style tone that’s chock-full of snarling treble and meaty midrange. There's also a push-pull built into the PT Special's tone knob that enables you to toggle between series and parallel pickup wiring.

Just-right playability

This Schecter PT Special’s neck is expertly carved from a piece of rock-hard maple. Rosewood caps the neck with a 12" radius. Its "C" neck profile is an exquisite balance of hand-filling comfort and fleet-fingered playability. Add a fingerboard outfitted with extremely durable extra-jumbo frets and a TUSQ nut that ensures your strings never bind, and the PT Special plays as beautifully as it looks.

Reviews

Lots of guitar for the money !
So I have had the guitar for a couple of weeks, As always I am very impressed with the quality of schecter guitars
Music background: 3 years learning
Great one....one of those finds, ya know?
Jeez, how did this one slip under my radar for so long? INSTANT favorite from the second I plugged it in.
This one is very well appointed and has a very striking look to it between the chorme hardware and the pearl-black finish.
The pickups are pretty good for stock, although I will certainly upgrade them both in the near future. The push-pull is a nice to have, and it is very cool to line up the pickups in series
Very happy with this one - I hope they will offer more colors and options in the future.
Music background: 35 years of guitar playing
Better than expected (but QC issues)
Recently received my 2nd Pt-Special from Sweetwater. Had to return the 1st one because the neck/bridge alignment was off. Due to supply chain issues it took a minute to get the replacement(understandable), but I got the 2nd one in and it plays, sounds and looks great. Perfectly setup as well. The neck carve near the nut is a little different than first (less pronounced "V") for some reason but it still feels great and the binding on the neck had a smoother transition to the wood than the first. However the poly on the back of the neck had weird ridges like someone grabbed it while it was still wet or had put it down on something that "crinkled" the finish.I dragged a pick across the worst two spots and it flaked down to the bare wood. I ended up sanding the neck with 1000 grit to smooth those two spots and a half dozen or so others. Now it's real nice. The bare spots bother me a little so I will probably touch them up later.
As good as Sweetwater was in every other aspect (really was amazed at how simple returning the first guitar was and how well they took care of me) I thought they or Schecter should have caught the issues with the guitars during one of their inspections. Not returning this one though. Really happy with everything else on the guitar. Plays as nice as my Strat, LP and PRS. Holds tuning like a champ as well.
Music background: Lots of years...
More than I expected
Really impressed with the looks, the black pearl finish is very classy looking. I appreciate the comfortable fast neck. I've always heard pretty good things about Schecter guitars and now I know why. Classic T-Style aesthetics but under the hood its a hot rod when you put some drive on it. I am equally happy with the Clean tones as well. Being a Les Paul guy, I like the 12" radius fretboard on the PT special as well. My sales guy called and left a msg that they were back in stock, and I ordered it right away. Thanks Ed Needler! Another plus is that this guitar is not made in China! That fact helped make up my mind. I feel like I got a lot of guitar for a great price. The V90 neck Pup is really great sounding and the singles coil in the bridge sounds good with it. However, the bridge Pup by itself is a little weak IMO. But overall I'm totally digging it.
However, he manufacturers part number is 666, so that's kinda spooky.
Music background: songwriter, gigger, collector of stuff, guitar player
Forget best for money this is best of all
I love this tele clone. Has the best sound of any t style guitar. It
s the funnest to play if your not used to thinner smooth fast schecter necks you will be. This is my first schecter and I'm a schecter guy now there's just something about it. The mod choices are endless but it sounds great with the stock pickups....I love guitars that are less than a certain price and this is the best one under a certain price. Don't be nervous to get schecter everyone should own at least one schecter let it be this one.
