The Sire Larry Carlton S3 is loaded with one Sire Standard-ST humbucker, two Sire Standard-ST single-coil pickups, and a 5-way switch. Every facet of the Larry Carlton S3’s neck was designed with high-speed fingerboard finesse in mind — no surprise if you’re at all familiar with Mr. 335’s genre-defying chops! The S3 starts with the time-tested formula of a maple neck and a rosewood fingerboard, then loaded up with beefy medium-jumbo frets in a 9.5-inch radius to facilitate smooth, low action and effortless bendability. Beyond that, the neck’s comfortable “C” shape is designed to conform to the palms of all manner of players, delivering a “just-right” profile that’s neither too thick or too thin.
