Yamaha Quality at an Affordable Price

The Yamaha TRBX174 bass guitar is an outstanding value for the modern bassist. The TRBX series is one of Yamaha's most popular basses, and for good reason. This cool-looking, great-sounding bass gives you a comfortable Yamaha body shape and a fast-action bolt-on maple neck with a smooth-playing sonokeling fingerboard. You get strong, punchy tone from the P/J arrangement of split-coil/single-coil pickups. Factor in the solid hardware and a range of great finishes, and you've got an eye-catching and ear-catching bass with the Yamaha TRBX174.

Comfortable body with progressive styling

One look at the Yamaha TRBX174 electric bass, and you know it means business. A deep cutaway gives you clean access to the higher registers for soloing, while the pronounced upper bout provides balance (and looks cool). You're going to love the way the TRBX174 looks and feels!

P/J pickup arrangement for a universe of great bass tones

The Yamaha TRBX174 sports a classic pickup layout: a split-coil in the middle position and a single-coil at the bridge. The Precision-style split-coil serves up the beef, giving you solid, deep fundamentals. the Jazz-style single delivers the growl, with strong mids and highs (particularly if you're strung up with round-wounds). How you combine the pickups is up to you, but one thing's for sure - you've got tons of tonal options!

Yamaha quality, through and through

The Yamaha TRBX174 bass is covered by the company's Limited Lifetime Warranty. Yamaha has been making world-class instruments for over a century, and they're supremely confident of the quality of the materials and workmanship that goes into their products. You can rest easy that you've made a solid decision in purchasing the Yamaha TRBX174 electric bass guitar!

Reviews

TRBX174 Rocks!!
Pound for pound, dollar for dollar, this is an excellent all-around bass guitar. I started playing bass with this guitar, and it's also my go-to on-stage guitar. It stays dead-nuts in tune, it has a distinctive tone that sounds as good, if not better, than much more expensive basses. I swear by this thing. I purchased it originally because it looked cool and I work on Yamaha bikes. Little did I know how I would end up learning and growing with this thing. Can't beat it.
Music background: Rock and roll
Great introduction to Bass
I picked this up as my first bass guitar and I could not be happier. I did oil the neck shortly after getting it because it felt slightly dry, but otherwise this bass has been great right out of the box. I didn't even need to tweak the action or intonation. The ability to switch between (and mix) Precision/Jazz pickups offers a great starting point to play around and experiment with; as well as tonal range once you have more of an idea of what you want.

I think the guitar looks great, sounds great, and feels great to play; even if I'm still building up the strength for bass strings lol
Good quality and great tone
I really love this bass! It's excellent quality for the price point. It plays well and has a nice tone to it.
Very Pleased
I'm VERY pleased with this bass. Being a guitar player, not a dedicated bass player, I'm not familiar with bass guitars that much. But for the money, this one is great for what I need...recording my songs. I wouldn't recommend it for heavy use, but for studio use, it's seems like an excellent low budget choice. Good tone, no buzz, set up well out of the box.
