Reviews

Pretty darn good
This has been my bass since I began playing a year and a half ago. Easy to navigate the fret board, good tone with a little bit of tweaking, plus flat wound strings. I've been gigging with it for the last 5 months and it does great-- tons of sound through my Rocket Bass amp. Only downside is this is a pretty heavy instrument, so I almost always play sitting down, even during shows, because my shoulder wears out. This is awesome for playing at home and recording with, but it you plan to stand and play a ton, you might go a different direction (for context, 5'9" F, 165 lb, preexisting shoulder/neck issues).
Bought for a beginner
Great look and great price to get my 15 daughter both started out right and interested. It's a perfect size for her and sounds great.
More Value again from Ibanez and Sweetwater
Budget short scale bass? Not so fast. Packaging is overkill. Double boxed and extremely safe. For the average player, out of the box will work just fine. I like my guitars setup for me so I filed down the nut slots and knocked down a high fret at 18th position. No biggie. Took a half turn out of the truss rod to get back some relief. This is a very well made instrument. Tuners are nice. Bridge is massive enough. Plays great and sounds great. Look, you can't go wrong with anything from Ibanez. My fiver is an Ibanez and has treated me very well over the years.

Neck pickup is thumpy and old school. Bridge pup adds in some nice crisp. This is a bass that fits right in to 1960's with Surf and old school Rock or R&B. Had to have the Mint Green to go with my Mint Strat. The pickguard has not one piece of film but two pieces. That is really nice. There is a little neck dive but it's a trade I'm willing to make in order to have a beefy headstock. I love the back of the neck; it is nice and slick with very little finish. This will save me some sanding. At the price, this is a five star Bass! It checks all of the boxes and it's an Ibanez so you know you are getting a good guitar for your money.

Bring the bass
This guitar will bring the bass. I play this at church (mostly southern gospel) with a 1000 watt peavey pv-410 cab and peavey mini mega amp. I have a fender jazz (swamp ash body) and a Yamaha 4 string in baby blue. The Talman is my go to bass. The short scale is comfortable to play and overall a light weight bass. I like that old school fat 70's sound and this guitar makes it easy to achieve.
Music background: Southern gospel bass - sing and play guitar (acoustic), southern rock drummer.
So much bang for your buck.
I'm mostly a guitar player but needed a bass for doing my own recording. I have a completely utilitarian relationship with the bass guitar: I have no romantic feelings about brands or legacy and I don't know much about the ergonomic experience of different basses. I just wanted the cheapest bass that would get the job done, and I wanted short scale because it'll get 99% of its use in my tiny music room.

Now, though. Now I LOVE this thing. I love the Talman body style, and the it was a tough decision between mint green and cream. The hardware feels solid, unlike some low end guitars in the same price range I've played. All in all, I would've settled with being merely satisfied with my purchase, but I love everything about this bass. 10/10 would recommend.
