Reviews

Add the right bass speakers and this thing is a monster!
I've always loved the sound of a Leslie. In the late 60's I got a Fender Vibratone and installed a 12"; JBL. Then a 147, a Yamaha RA 70, a few Motion Sound amps, and then a Studio 12. I loved the Studio 12 but its lack of bass response was frustrating. When the Studio 12 began having problems, I figured I'd try this. It took a fair amount of playing with the parameters (and there are quite a few) to get a sound I love. The 6" bass speakers are nice but don't create the sound of a full size Leslie cabinet. I had a couple JBL Eon 315s I'd been trying to sell; I hooked them up and omg - it sounds amazing. Finding the perfect balance between the Eons and treble rotor took some work, but the sound is amazing. I use it with my Xk5 via the multi-pin cord and it is just perfect. I use the 1/4" jack and footswitch for my Mojo, Nords, etc. and they sound great! My only complaint is that the lowest setting for the fast bass rotor speed is a touch faster than I'd like, but it sounds great anyways! My original plan was to fix the Studio 12 and use both, but this thing blows the Studio 12 away so I'm selling it!

Leslie 2101 mks
Just got mine. Hooked it up to my Hammond XK-1c & am pleased w/the natural sound of the rotor. I play n a jazz trio & have to cover the bass line. It covered this completely. It's bigger than I thought, but 50 lbs isn't bad. Got a hand truck. Also, I've a

SWEETWATER ROCKS BIG TIME !
I received my 2101 a little over a week ago. Fedex ground dumped it carelessly on my driveway at 10pm and drove hurriedly off. The rotor was thus defective. SWEETWATER sent me a replacement 3 days later and give me a choice of carrier : I picked ups air, the unit arrived working perfectly. I run it into my Motion Sound kp612 ( also from sweetwater !) for the bottom rotor and bass, and spent 2 days dialing it in. The tube pre amp on it makes a huge difference between the 2101 mark 1 and the 2101 Mark 2, and it sounds sensational running into the motion sound kp612. I play a Crumar Mojo Classic, which has a SENSATIONAL leslie sim, and sound wise, the internal sim is extremely convincing. But the moving air makes the difference . If you want any distortion and crunch, you HAVE to use the tube pre amp, and the tube drive on the left of the panel. I use the mojo drive and the 2101 tube gain, and...... WHAT A SOUND !

Much better than I expected
I got this primarily to use with a Hammond SK Pro, but also for reamping guitars and other instruments in the studio. I was worried about the low frequency output since it obviously doesn't have the rotating low frequency driver. After plugging it in, I was amazed. It was much better than I thought it would be. It has a really good representation of low frequencies. It feels like a Leslie 122. It even breaks up like it should when pushed. So it won't go as loud as a 122 of course, but it does do pretty well.
When using it with the Hammond multipin cable, the rotor speed is controlled right from the keyboard switches. I love this thing, and will be using both for studio and for gigs.

A little powerhouse
I got this to pair with a Leslie 720 so I could use all three channels from my organ (Hammond Colonnade) and be able to control it with my built in leslie controls via 11 pin connection. I haven't got the 11 pin Y cable in yet so I've only used it by itself. Other than a lack of bass witch I expected it will really scream if you take the time to go through the settings and adjust input levels so as not to overdrive the amplifiers. I'm really impressed with it. Actually really want to get the 2122 bottom for it and use it side by side with my 720.
