Alesis foot pedal
Works well solid construction. Good price.Triggers A/B mode as well as fills a d on/ off. Buy it.

Does exactly what you expect it to do.
A very simple pedal that I use with my Alesis SR-16 drum machine. I might get a second one so I can use both the stop/start and A/B features. Very convenient, and beats looking for the correct button on the machine while I'm playing. Simple, sturdy, great feel.

Works great. Feels durable.
Have only used it for a week, but it feels like it will last forever. Has a switch so you can reverse operations, interesting.
This unit is a beast! Puts Yamaha pedal to shame.
Polarity switch! Yamaha unit has none.
Very sturdy & heavy metal construction : Yamaha is 1 oz of plastic that I feel like I can crush if I stomp on it too hard.
Grippy, doesn't slide around like Yamaha unit when you use it. Not going to accidentally kick it out of reach.
Is actually $ cheaper.

I use this unit as a foot controller for my RC5 looper, but I might also replace my fancy $ yamaha sustain pedal on my keys because that's been acting up after only a few months of use, and I can't have it stop working on me on stage. Wont feel as good on the foot, but I doubt it will break with moderate use.

I do wish the 1/4" wasn't fixed but for $ I'll manage.
changed out the spring
After some hours the pedal's compression spring became tiresome to fully depress. I use it as a sustain pedal and my piano styling means it is in constant use. I have plenty of springs and found two that worked in tandem. I have been using the Yamaha's fixed NC status FC5 for years. I guess they are fine for stop/start but I found them a little too stiff unless one's toe area is exactly at the ideal fulcrum point which cannot be assured in robust playing or over many hours on a bookings. If one's toes are too high up on the top plate then one can easily fail to fully engage the switch without considerable effort. Even securely held in place via the velcro and a suitable looped mat material it is probably safer to use the traditional piano pedal type for a lengthy booking.
