Behringer Kobol Expander Semi-modular Analog Synthesizer
Sells separately for $249.00Drawing from the innovative designs of its spiritual predecessor, Behringer’s Kobol Expander masterfully models the magic of its all-analog waveform-morphing architecture, resulting in a highly versatile semi-modular synth that oozes 1970s-style character. Its seven waveshapes are continuously morphable, utilizing a pair of VCOs to evoke a suite of duophonic sound-shaping possibilities, from sawtooth to PWM, each of which can be adjusted or modulated independently. The onboard VCF implements a 4-pole design that has been lauded for its naturally saturating quality, perfect for sculpting onboard synth sounds and external audio alike. An analog LFO spans two waveform options with a bevy of destination choices, allowing for nuanced tone crafting that’s instantly elevated through the oscillator sync or the noise generator, resulting in mammoth-sized synth sonics. Behringer’s Kobol Expander is armed with a flexible suite of connectivity choices, including dedicated 5-pin DIN MIDI ports for input and thru-put use, a USB-B port, multiple audio outputs, and a Poly Chain, letting you connect up to 16 units for simultaneous use and 16-voice polyphony. Sweetwater’s synthesists especially appreciate its commitment to modular use, including 32 patch points and a Eurorack-compatible design that lets you remove the module for use with Eurorack systems. No matter how you play, the Kobol Expander is precision-engineered for immense interoperative potential.
