The Walrus Audio Canvas Expression consolidates multiple switching and expression controllers into a single, pedalboard-friendly unit for players with complex signal chains. On the side of the pedal's durable aluminum and steel enclosure, you’ll find two 1/4-inch outputs as well as MIDI In and Out to control volume swells, amp channel switching, and preset changes with a simple treadle movement. You also get multiple audio taper styles to further customize the sweep intensity of each effect you control. Expansive control across the board
When it comes to advanced switching and control, the Canvas Expression consolidates most of your existing channel-switching and expression pedals, freeing up precious space and weight on your pedalboard. Of the four main parameters available to customize your switching needs, TYPE ultimately determines how the pedal will control your outboard gear with one of three methods: Expression Output provides real-time control over most effect levels, such as volume, wah, delay time, and more. Switch Output allows you to control latching-type switches, like preset changes, pedal functions, or channel switching on guitar amps. Control Voltage Output changes parameters for various desktop synthesizers, Eurorack systems, and other CV-enabled effects.
WIRE determines the type of cabling your gear uses (mono or stereo), while DIR sets the sweep direction based on the treadle position. Lastly, the X parameter controls the type of audio taper used to customize the intensity of your sweep range. With three activation points available to configure for each output, the possibilities for customized control are endless.
Even more mastery via MIDI and Canvas Web App
For further command over your workflow, the Canvas Expression Web App unlocks the full potential of the pedal's MIDI outputs. Up to 16 different Program Change (PC) and Control Change (CC) messages can be assigned to change presets, parameter values, and more for your outboard equipment and plugins in your DAW. Via MIDI cables or MIDI over USB, the Canvas Expression seamlessly integrates into any production scenario.
