ADAM Audio's Sub15 Subwoofer

Designed for midsized and larger control rooms, the ADAM Audio Sub15 is an extremely powerful subwoofer that extends the low-frequency range of any midfield or main monitors down to 20Hz. The Sub15 houses a robust 15" aluminum-diaphragm woofer with two massive magnets and a 4" voice coil driven by a high-efficiency 1000W PWM power amplifier which combines low heat generation with high performance to handle maximum power levels during lengthy sessions. The rear panel is fitted with two knobs that let you tweak the input level and crossover frequency settings to optimize your monitor setup from your preferred listening position. Satellite speakers can be driven either full range or highpass filtered at 85Hz. An XLR sub output lets you cascade additional subwoofers as required for any monitoring setup.

Breathtaking bass response down to 20Hz

If you've ever heard a loud playback on the main monitors in a world-class studio, it's a revelation. For the uninitiated, the first reaction is one of being overwhelmed. After you've caught your breath, the first thing you marvel at is the incredibly tight and deep bass. With the Sub15's linear frequency response extending down to 20Hz, you feel in your chest cavity the crush of a well-recorded kick drum, the full weight of organ pedal tones or a fat unison synth bass. To record frequencies this low, you need to be able to hear them. With the ADAM Audio Sub15, you can.

ADAM Audio: elevating the state of the art

From its 1999 launch in Berlin, ADAM Audio has built a solid reputation among the pro audio cognoscente. Sweetwater knows that a superior speaker system has superior components, and this is one area where the company has a distinct edge. With years of R&D behind each proprietary driver, ADAM Audio's custom driver technology expresses itself in breakthroughs such as their X-ART (eXtended Accelerating Ribbon Technology) tweeter, which is based on a groundbreaking 1960s invention, the Heil Air Motion Transformer — and in fact, was the main impetus for the formation of ADAM Audio. The X-ART tweeter became the key to ADAM's signature transparent, high-definition sound; and the core development of ADAM’s proprietary designs going forward.

Embracing, exploiting, and working with modern materials has allowed ADAM Audio to formulate loudspeaker components that continually elevate the state of the art in studio monitor design. Materials such as rare-earth magnets and high-strength diaphragm foils have increased reliability, enhanced performance, and made possible new driver geometry. As compared with conventional driver technology, Adam drivers deliver optimized radiation characteristics, lower distortion, and higher efficiency. Along with installations in a growing number of top studios, ADAM Audio's monitor range has garnered rave reviews from audio experts and recording engineers worldwide. If you're considering an upgrade to world-class monitoring, you'll be in good company with ADAM Audio monitors.

It's "the" sub dude
I own a pair of Adam A8H (left & right) and use them for recording / producing music but also use them a lot for playing and enjoying my vinyl records. When I purchased the A8H's, I decided to pause on the Adam sub and use my QSC KW181. Yes, it sounded good (after I did calibrations etc). But I kept wondering if the Adam sub would be better. Then I pulled my B&W sub from the family den and used it with the A8H's and thought it was better than the QSC. Well after much procrastination, I popped for the Adam Sub15 and OMG, what a difference it makes. I've been on a vinyl super binge ever since it arrived. The engineers at Adam Audio did an outstanding job with how their products sound together. The sub frequencies are tight, focused, and travel well throughout my studio room. I'm hearing the same ol' records like I've never heard before. The detail across all the frequencies is a pure delight. Soundstage is incredible. My vinyl signal is 100% pure from the needle all the way to the Adam drivers with absolutely no tone altering circuit involved. Therefore I am reproducing and hearing exactly what the record producers put in the grooves. Oh and BTW, my own studio productions sound better. It's "the" sub dude. ;-)
