A Kingmaker’s Delay
As the name suggests, the Imperial Delay from Boz Digital Labs has its sights set on the plug-in kingdom's crown. The Imperial Delay's wide-ranging tools reign when it comes to crafting perfect delays with the right texture, character, and tempo. Settings are infinitely customizable using advanced features, but core operation is simple and accessible to users of any skill level. Plus, the Imperial Delay includes a vast spread of presets ready for immediate use and a variety of tools for saving and organizing presets of your own, a feature that Sweetwater engineers have found makes this plug-in ready for the long haul.

Three tempo tools with six ways to delay
Getting the right tempo for your delay is always easy using the Imperial Delay’s three different tempo options. Free mode lets you manually dial in times between 0.1 and 10 seconds. Sync mode matches the Imperial up to a project tempo in your DAW. With Tap mode, you can tap out values you prefer, which is especially handy for experimentation and tricky time signatures. The Imperial Delay also features six different spatial options offer plenty of depth when it comes time to mixing those tracks. Options include standard stereo, left/right swap, two mono modes, and two ping-pong panning modes.
Infinite tonal tweaking
The Imperial Delay features a section of compelling effects that take delays beyond timing with touches of movement, texture, tone, and more. There’s a drive section for enhanced distortion and harmonics; a “Duck” compressor for taming extremes; a “Smear” tool for rubbing delay edges into reverb-like tapestries with more background layers; a “Color” tone control for making feedback darker or lighter; a “Dynamic Feedback” section for adding or cutting noise; an “Offset” section for locking in offset stereo ratios that remain the same even if you alter delay times; a pitch section for detuning and doubling; and onboard modulation and chorus tools for modulation. If that all sounds like a lot, don’t fear: the Imperial Delay comes with a number of handy presets that sound great out of the box. You can also save your own presets, organize them via submenus, and even send them between Mac or PC without losing any functionality or settings.
