Right out of the box, the Kingmaker Fuzz pedal delivers three distinctive fuzz types — the icing on the cake is Source Audio's Neuro Editor software. Once you've created your ideal effects, you can save up to three of them on the Kingmaker Fuzz pedal for instant recall, without ever having to open the editor again.

  • Stack dual drive engines in series or parallel, or send 2 drive engines to separate outputs, via Neuro Editor
  • Stock fuzz types inspired by classic Muff, FuzzFace, and Octavio effects
  • Stereo I/O can distort upstream stereo signals, split a mono signal to dual outputs, or use the additional in and out as an external effects loop

Reviews

Name doesn't lie
I recently changed from a mono rig to stereo and I was looking for a good piece of dirt I could throw over my Rooms stereo reverb, and this thing delivers unlike any other fuzz I've worked with. I haven't dealt with the programming of this pedal but I know you can model other drives/fuzzes with it, I started tweaking the knobs and just using the effects inside the box and it blew me away. The thing sounds gnarly.

The Kingmaker stacks nicely. I run my main gain staging and modulation into a volume pedal, then reverb into my Kingmaker and this is my money tone. If you have 100 bucks and are looking for a new toy, you'd be hard pressed to find something better. It's the smallest thing on my board aside from the mini Xotic boost and I'm sure there are worlds I haven't touched using the editor and the modeling software, but the tones inside the purple little box blow me away every time.

Replaces 4 pedals
Want to save space on your pedalboard and don't mind using an editor to tweak settings? This pedal will:
1.) Replace ANY TWO overdrive/distortion/fuzz pedals on your board (with a toggle switch that lets you switch from among SIX different effects on the fly. And by "any", I mean it has 50+ different software engines to cover all the most popular dirt tones over the last 50 years. So yeah. ANY.
2.) Replace your noise gate pedal if you have one.
3.) Replace your EQ pedal if you have one.
It should be called the Kingmaker fuzz, overdrive-and/or-distortion, noise gate, EQ pedal because it does all of that. So does the LA Lady Overdrive pedal. Everyone needs one of these.
Music background: 35+ years of noisemaking with guitars, basses, and drums
Probably the last distortion/fuzz you'll ever need to get... but you must love tweaking.
In a nutshell Kingmaker/LaLady/Aftershock sounds great, not just good. But you have to tweak it to match your rig.

You can get exactly the sound or at least come so close that it doesn't matter to almost every distortion pedal and a handful of fuzzes. The best part is that you can "fix" what you don't like about a given pedal. So if you're the type of person who goes "I love my tubescreamer, just wish it had more/less XYZ..." then this is the perfect pedal for you.

The baked in fuzz engines are awesome, if you're after a fuzz face and/or muff, then for you it will be worth the price alone. The fuzz face cleans up with the volume as you would expect and the muff sounds like a muff just a lot quieter. And you have the added flexibility of adjusting the highs and lows which is super useful.

In my opinion the real magic happens when you start using the editor. Because when you edit the sounds, you can make sure that whatever distortion engine you choose matches your rig perfectly. Through the editor you have total control over every frequency since a parametric eq is included in every engine. So you can adjust it to whatever suits you.

The best part in my opinion is that you can assign any parameter to the knobs. This way you can make on the fly adjustments. This is critical if you gig, because sometimes when playing in a full band, some distortions/fuzzes tend to disappear and you need to boost a frequency or add/lower gain. Not having to dive into a menu makes this a super valuable gigging tool.

As a super cool bonus, the noise gate works great, the pedal is dead quiet, and works great with bass.

TLDR If you're willing to spend time tweaking it to match your rig, you'll love this pedal and it could end your search for overdrive/distortion. There are some fuzz flavors that arent covered, but the main types sound great.
Music background: Gigging musician
Versatile with immense sound quality
I never thought digital fuzz had any business existing but I stand corrected. Received this as a gift and I'm glad, because I would've never ever considered this pedal.

ITS SO FUZZING GOOD!

The 3 presets that you get are a Muff, fuzz face and an octave fuzz. All sound amazing, but I'm trapped in fuzz face land. This thing is my always on, replaced all my other dirt pedals, pedal. It does the fuzz face guitar volume/pick attack thing beautifully, gives you more insanity that a fuzz face when cranked, and does so with much less noise. And it's super easy to dial in with whatever pickups/amp/other pedals you're using. Then there's the editor, which is insane, you can literally turn this into whatever kind of fuzz you like. Oh and it's stereo, you can run two different fuzz/drives at once.

Buy this if:
You love fuzz
You're new to fuzz and want to experiment
You want a muff a fuzz face and an octavia but can't afford all 3
As a jack of all trades fuzz for the studio
As a noise reduction solution
If you want crazy fuzz and won't mind fiddling with the software editor to get there
You want ultimate control over your sound
You want a fuzz that works with a variety of other pedals/amps/guitars

Don't buy if:
You want modern fuzz, but you don't want to deal with the software editor at all.
You're after a specific fuzz tone, and that tone is all you want
