Craft, Weave, and Build Imaginative Effects from Scratch
Designed for myriad sound-design, film-score, game-audio, and music-making possibilities, the Rob Papen SynFeX plug-in is your go-to garrison of groundbreaking effects synthesis. This veritable venue of virtual voltage brings Rob Papen’s ingenuity to a purpose-built plug-in that grants immense depth and detail to developing multitudes of expressive and evocative effects from scratch. For Sweetwater’s sonic sculptors, SynFeX’s distinctive architecture is what makes the plug-in so impactful, as everything revolves around Movement — the primary visual and conceptual engine that drives your effects-crafting experience, allowing you to wield abstracted sonic dimensions of momentum, tension, resolution, or force, along an X/Y presentation. The virtual instrument’s 16 voices give you near-limitless space to build massive and multilayered harmonic relationships, while the multitudes of modulation, key-tracking, wave-shaping, source-audio, and mapping capabilities guarantee endless customization and exploration. With more than 300 expertly crafted presets, versatile MIDI control, built-in spatialization tools, 32 filter types, and Rob Papen’s celebrated virtual ribbon-style controller, SynFeX is poised to provide everything needed to design engaging, dynamic, and evocative effects.

Movement: time, tension, motion, and modulation
SynFeX is built around its main control element: Movement. This sub-module appears at the top of the flexible, adjustable UI, and every sound you design is anchored to the sonic terrain that you define via Movement waveforms, waveshapes, looping behavior, and temporal contouring. Modulation effects, LFOs, stereo-effect channel distribution, and signal routing let you weave and warp myriad layers of 16-voice power, and the Source sub-module expands your creative palette to virtually endless possibilities across tunable noise types, a dedicated waveform sub-oscillator, and a granular-capable sample editor. On the modulation front, Mod-FX emerges from a distinct lane, while four Modulation sub-modules can each be custom-assigned their own respective Source and Destination, as Delay, Reverb, and Low-Fi sub-modules let you tamper with time and texture all on their own. Plus, the signal pathways of Low-Fi, Mod-FX, Delay, and Reverb can be rearranged to suit your sound-shaping style.
Wield sound in multiple dimensions
While SynFeX is built around sound-design and effects-crafting capabilities, it’s still a bona fide virtual synthesizer that Rob Papen and his team have spared no effort in constructing. Its mammoth 16 voices are a ferocious force of flexible firepower, and SynFeX’s performance capabilities give you a wealth of sonic potential across monophonic, polyphonic, mono-high, mono-low, and three legato modes. Moreover, SynFeX is fully compatible with MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression), enabling unrivaled degrees of expressive depth and nuanced flourishes. Dynamic controls for stereo shaping and panning further expand your sonic suite with versatile per-voice mapping, automating, modulating, and playing, resulting in a massive-sounding symphony of evocative synth-effect energy.
