In a delightful contrast to its svelte form factor, the TASCAM MP-800U teems with flexibility. Whether you’re using the SD card reader or a flash drive with the USB-A port, MP3, AAC, and WAV filetypes are supported, high-quality sound is always available — there’s even an onboard USB DAC! The included FM tuner gives you unbridled access to the airwaves in your area; the Panel Lock mode lets you disable all front-mounted controls, ensuring your carefully refined settings go undisturbed. Furthermore, front- and rear-mounted 3.5mm Control connections let you expand your interfacing to suit your space, and the included rackmounting kit gives you the peace of mind to know that this 1U-sized powerhouse player is right at home in virtually any configuration.
Powerful, pliable playback
TASCAM equipped the MP-800U with a wide range of sound-control features, giving you as much —or as little — hands-on control as your space demands. Its streamlined faceplate and vivid display provide all the essentials for navigating your tracks, including 10 multifunction track-selection buttons, playback management tools, source selection, a multi-jog dial, and ±16% pitch-correction capability. On the rear panel, a pair of RCA stereo outputs lets you independently route audio from the FM tuner and your main music source. A 3-pin XLR stereo output ensures seamless integration into nearly any setup, delivering full-fidelity performance wherever it's placed. To round things out, features like flexible fade-in/fade-out, auto-cue, auto-play, incremental playback, and power-on-play give you all the tools needed to fully tailor your audio environment.
Optional additions: enhance your listening and expand your setup
TASCAM designed the MP-800U for versatile playback, and a range of add-ons lets you expand control and fine-tune your sound with precision. While the following peripheral devices and operational features aren’t included with the MP-800U, here’s what you can expect to power up your performance!
- AK-BT2 Bluetooth adapter: The simple front-loaded connection with the AK-BT2 supports not only Bluetooth connectivity, but also extensive control of your MP-800U via the free TASCAM Media Control app for iOS and Android smart devices.
- IF-E100 expansion card: Installing this control card on the MP-800U’s rear panel lets you manage your entire playback apparatus via external Ethernet-networked systems, like Telnet, with a dedicated browser-based application to hone your listening configurations.
- Q-SYS compatibility: Currently under development by TASCAM, this feature requires both the IF-E100 and the eventual TASCAM plug-in, which will be made available through the Q-SYS Designer Software, allowing for extensive, remote cloud-based control of your MP-800U.
- RC-20 Direct Play remote: When used with the MP-800U’s Control connections, this remote lets you directly queue and play up to 20 tracks, each individually managed. The rear-mounted Control port specifically enables fader start/stop integration with an external audio mixer, regardless of the audio source connected to feed the MP-800U.
