A Custom Trumpet Inspired by the Windy City
Designed in collaboration with trumpeter John Hagstrom of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Yamaha YTR-9636 Custom series trumpet is a versatile, pro-level horn that's primed for anything. This innovative horn's 1-piece, 4 7/8-inch, yellow brass bell projects a brilliant, complex sound made all the more resonant due to its near-seamless construction achieved with the use of high-energy laser fusion. The YTR-9636s 0.459-inch bore balances its air resistance for an incredibly open feel, while its unique S-shape leadpipe and MC1 leadpipe taper structure, pressure-formed tubing, and hand-lapped pistons and slides — fit with absolute precision — offer maximum air capacity, incredible intonation, and super-quick response. The renovated design of the YTR-9636 also makes this trumpet ideal for both solo and orchestral performance. Alongside its natural ability to shift from C, the YTR-9636 is easily able to transition, without a bell replacement, between D and Eb simply by changing the main, first, and third valve slides. The Yamaha YTR-9636 is a versatile, original, and richly resonant instrument worthy of a top-level trumpeter.
Tailor-made for discriminating players
Serious trumpet players searching for a versatile horn will find much to appreciate in the YTR-9636 trumpet. The unique design features an S-shape leadpipe and MC1 leadpipe taper, inspired by the “Chicago” series Artist Model trumpets. This unison produces dynamic intonation and response qualities that professional and top-tier amateur trumpeters will certainly appreciate. The YTR-9636’s natural ability to shift from C, combined with its capacity to transition between D and Eb without replacing the bell, also makes it primed for both solo and orchestral performance.
Laser-fused, 1-piece bell
Constructed from yellow brass, the Yamaha YTR-9636 1-piece, 4-7/8-inch bell contributes greatly to its agile response and brilliant, complex sound. The YTR-9636's bell shape really optimizes the horn's response, facilitating a powerful tonal core and nimble playability, while the near-seamless construction, courtesy of high-energy laser fusing, produces long-lasting and balanced vibrations. To match, the YTR-9636 features a yellow brass body that produces an ear-grabbing brilliant quality. At Sweetwater, we've also found that this trumpet's silver-plated finish lends an astute, polished aesthetic.
