Eurorack On Any Track

Crea8audio have established themselves as a knowledgeable authority and producer of excellently engineered synthesizers and gear, but with enough cheekiness and brevity to step back from the stuffiness that sometimes plagues areas of niche interests. In this particular case, it’s allowed them to deliver a fun, expressive Eurorack-on-the-go synth that we at Sweetwater consider a must-have for any musician who loves Eurorack modules but needs something less rigid. The NiftyKeyz iterates on the company’s previous NiftyBundle, and to great effect. This 49-key synth controller is front-loaded with a robust array of expressive and modular opportunities. 112HP of rack space means you’ve got a sizable space for completely customizable rack-module integration. Four CV + gate outputs can be used to split the keyboard’s range, as well as offering both polyphonic and monophonic modes. Robust expressive opportunities include sustain in, a multi-mode arpeggiator, aftertouch, velocity, mod wheel/LFO, transposition functions, and more. Paint your modular canvas today with Cre8audio’s NiftyKeyz!

Modular interfacing

At 112HP, the NiftyKeyz Keyboard combo case boasts a hefty amount of usable space, with power supplied at 1500mA for +12V, 1000mA for +5V, and 1000mA for -12V. This synth takes full advantage of its spacious abode by including four CV and gate outputs, and dedicated CV outs for expressive features, allowing you to fully indulge the rack modules you include. Clock functions can be handled internally or externally, as well as being divided. Create monophonic, multi-voice sounds with the ability to split the range with the CV controls. Or use them all in conjunction with one another to create a full-range polyphonic instrument.

Express yourself

Cre8audio is already known for the expressive tinge of their modules, so it should come as no surprise that they don’t pull their punches with the options given to you with NiftyKeyz. Onboard aftertouch, velocity control, and modwheel/LFO usage can function on their own, as well as being integrated with Eurorack modules. Pitch and modwheel functions can be toggled on the fly, as well, thanks to built-in controls. The sustain pedal input is useful for both MIDI and gate control, allowing you to diversify your playstyle even more. Use the arpeggiator’s variable swing function, which utilizes a continuous control knob, to add more flavor to your progressions. Glide control, auto-chord, and transposition options add endless possibilities to fortifying and varying your licks.

Your sound where you need it

When Crea8audio prioritized mobility with NiftyKeyz, they didn’t just stop at Eurorack integration. Thanks to its heavy-duty MIDI functionality, NiftyKeyz can both send and receive MIDI information, letting you control any host of functions through your DAW of choice, alongside your onboard rig. Audio output options abound, including two 1/4-inch TS mono outputs, a 1/4-inch headphone output, and a 3.5mm jack, meaning you can play as quietly or loudly as needed without sacrificing connectivity and sound options between spaces. If you’re looking to expand your output, then take advantage of the two built-in buffered multiples, allowing you to split your CVs to several destinations.

Reviews

OH YEAH!!!
Having been in electronic music equipment since 1976 I have some sense of gear. A physical and emotional connection. Before COVID-19 I started acquiring the Behringer 900 and 1000 series eurorack modules.I have plenty of gear from before this. I started seeing this Cre8audio and when the NiftyKeyz first showed up it looked like it was a be all solution for my needs. CV, MIDI, USB, clean, simple yet loads of implementation options. IT IS!!! First time I hooked it up WOW! It does what I wanted and I have just hooked it up. One can see I have plenty of great keyboards and MIDI controllers. This NiftyKeyz is a great piece of gear for my studio setting. You can see my new NiftyKeyz center in my cabinet. I haven't loaded any modules into the NiftyKeyz but that will happen. I'm loving my new NiftyKeys.
Music background: Professional since 1969.
I Like It!
The NiftyKEYZ has been a good way for me to get started with Eurorack. It is a rack and controller combined with several modules already built in, so I could focus on figuring out what oscillators, filters, amps and envelopes I wanted. It also works well as a controller for desktop synths. I ended up with a 4 VCO paraphonic synth with an oscilloscope. I still have a bit of space left in the rack so I can add a couple more modules later.
Perfect therapy for my Eurorack obsession
I can't say enough great things about the NiftyKeys Eurorack case and keyboard. I started my Eurorack addiction with a Nifty case by Cre8audio and it has skyrocketed. I thought it would be cool to have a stand-alone setup with another Nifty Case filled with favorite modules and a MIDI keyboard. Well, NiftyKeys is the perfect solution. The keyboard has a great feel and provides four outputs for CV and four for Gate. There is nothing cheap, cheesy or chintzy about this keyboard. It is solid.

And.......A shoutout to my favorite Sales Engineer, James Ridings!
Music background: Not very good on the artistic side but great on the technical end.
NiftyKEYZ
I love the NiftyKEYZ! I wasn't going to even consider getting into Eurorack until I found this; it allowed me to focus on the modules I wanted to buy and easily connect everything with my other gear. I have been working with it for a few months now with no regrets! Definitely one of the best options for your first Modular purchase.
Music background: I love making unique electronic and fusion music. I am just starting to scratch the surface of sound possibilities.
