Comprehensive Modular Mixing: MIDI, Audio, and CV
Noise Engineering’s collection of kaleidoscopic Eurorack modules embodies the company’s commitment to innovation, imagination, and expression. Virtually every entry in the company’s sum aural offering is designed to deliver a multidimensional menagerie of musical possibilities, challenging traditional conventions of synthesis by arming their instruments with a multitude of capabilities, many of which stem from singular parameters. To harness the power of their versatile and voltaic voltage, Noise Engineering developed their Xer Mixa stereo mixer module, as well as its purpose-built partner, the Expando Expandi. Across the two, you’re able to freely and seamlessly mix, shape, contour, control, and route CV, MIDI, and audio signals, enabling you to step up your Eurorack setup with a malleable matrix of synthesis possibilities. Aside from the 10-audio and 8-CV input capacities of the Xer Mixa and Expando Expandi modules, respectively, the only limit to your creativity is your imagination.

Xer Mixa stereo mixer
Noise Engineering has garnered a well-deserved reputation for its ability to meticulously weave form, function, and multimode design into an inspiring experience that challenges you to reimagine your musicality. The 32HP Xer Mixa is no exception. Like every NE module, Xer Mixa embodies the two constants you’ll find across the company’s offerings: a witty, arcane etymological background. (“Xer” means “here is” in Greek; “mixa” is taken from the Latin for “mix”; together, Xer Mixa translates to “here is a lotta mixer.”) In this case, Xer Mixa is a Eurorack stereo mixer module, but that’s oversimplifying things. Its 10 stereo-paired inputs comprise eight channels and two auxiliary inputs, accompanied by three stereo-paired outputs. Its all-analog signal path provides ample punch, ultra-low noise, and exceptional aural integrity, while its digital control scheme provides detailed management options, preset slots, and deep configuration capabilities. Synthesists at Sweetwater are thoroughly impressed with the incorporation of a TRS-MIDI I/O, allowing you to edit, attenuate, and modify individual channels and scenes.

Expando Expandi CV expander
One of Noise Engineering’s hallmark design choices that have aided in enhancing its Eurorack offerings is something we call “intra-modularity.” This concept refers to the multifunctional capabilities found within each Eurorack module that immensely elevate the form-and-function creative possibilities you can summit. With Expando Expandi, Noise Engineering externalized this same magic for its lauded Xer Mixa stereo mixer Eurorack module, a choice that has Sweetwater’s synthesists delightfully intrigued by and excited to explore these distinctive lanes of mixing. At an economical 4HP, Expando Expandi introduces eight CV inputs of freely assignable control over your Xer Mixa module. Channel levels, auxiliary sends, panning values, and virtually every other parameter of Xer Mixa can be controlled via CV from your external module of choice, drastically widening the scope of interoperative Eurorack potential for sonic excavation. In fact, Xer Mixa is capable of simultaneously supporting two Expando Expandi modules. All that’s left is for you to decide whether you want the Expando Expandi’s standard 8-channel CV expansion or double down for 16 vectors of voltaic modulation. For the curious and eagle-eyed, this module follows Noise Engineering’s penchant for etymological fun, drawing from Latin for “ex” and “pandere,” the latter meaning “to spread out,” which the good folks at Noise E have translated together to mean “spreading in a panda-like fashion.”
Noise Engineering: unbridled passion for modulation magic
From the beginnings of humble happenstance to transcending the physical-digital divide to produce compelling, innovative hardware and software instruments, one crucial element has consistently remained as Noise Engineering’s cornerstone: integrity. The company wholeheartedly understands how infinitely personal your relationship to sound can be, so each instrument — physical or virtual — brims with a distinctive character. Additionally, every module provides maximum room for personalized control while retaining its defining attributes that give Noise Engineering’s designs their unmistakable sonic identity. Whether you’re new to Eurorack or a dyed-in-the-wool synthesist, you can rest assured knowing that the creative team at Noise Engineering crafts each aural opportunity with care, one waveform at a time.
