Modular Mixing: Digital Control and Analog Architecture
Noise Engineering has garnered a well-deserved reputation for its ability to meticulously weave form, function, and multimode design into an inspiring experience that challenges you to reimagine your own musicality. The 32HP Xer Mixa is no exception. Like every NE module, Xer Mixa embodies the two constants you’ll find across the company’s offerings: a witty, arcane etymological background (“xer” meaning “here is” in Greek; “mixa” from the Latin for “mix”; taken together, Xer Mixa translates to “here is a lotta mixer”) and a suite of multifunctionality that challenges the limits of what that type of module can be. In this case, Xer Mixa is a Eurorack stereo mixer module, but that’s oversimplifying things. Its 10 stereo-paired inputs comprise eight channels and two auxiliary inputs, accompanied by three stereo-paired outputs. Its all-analog signal path provides ample punch, ultra-low noise, and exceptional aural integrity, while its digital control scheme provides detailed management options, preset slots, and deep configuration capabilities. Synthesists at Sweetwater are thoroughly impressed with the incorporation of a TRS-MIDI I/O, allowing you to edit, attenuate, and modify individual channels and scenes.

Monstrous musicality with MIDI and more
Because every parameter can send MIDI CC signals, they can also be controlled externally via MIDI, including volume, mute/unmute, panning, Send A, and Send B values, and changing scenes with MIDI Program Change messages. Channels, MIDI information, and more can be adjusted with the display screen and accompanying encoders, where you’ll also find preset management and recall options. Tactility is just as crucial to Xer Mixa’s capabilities as digital interfacing, outfitted with robust faders and knobs to get hands-on with your mix. Plus, Xer Mixa can be mounted with the jacks oriented toward the top or bottom of the module without affecting its functionality or integration into your case — change a system setting, and the screen will flip with the module! Whether you’re mixing manually or going full MIDI, Xer Mixa can be a conduit of expressivity and musicality, where experimentation and exploration are all but an immutable requirement for use with your rig. In fact, you can foray into more versatile interoperative terrain by supplementing Xer Mixa with up to two Expando Expandi modules for CV control, in addition to MIDI (Expando Expandi modules sold separately).

Noise Engineering: unbridled passion for modulation magic
