Physical modeling creates lifelike percussion sounds
When it comes to creating organic and complex instrument sounds, sound designers at Sweetwater dig physical modeling synthesizers like the Intellijel Plonk module. Physical modeling employs two main elements — an exciter and a resonator. Think of the exciter section as the sound "activator" (like a drum stick or violin bow), and the resonator section as the actual main instrument (like a drum shell or a violin body). Between the two you can create a huge range of percussion sounds, from the familiar to completely original timbres.
Two-voice duophonic operation
When you trigger a sound on the Plonk module, its tail will decay without being cut off by the next sound you trigger (unless you want it to, hi-hat style). This duophonic operation even applies when you're changing parameter values with incoming CV/gate signals, allowing you to create an evolving sequence of percussion hits that flow together fluidly.
Full parameter randomization and morphing
Every parameter on the Intellijel Plonk module can be randomized and morphed by incoming CV/gate signals, allowing you to create a different percussion sound with every hit. And all synthesis parameters can be assigned to the X, Y, and Mod controls for modulation.
