With the Atlantix, Intellijel has crafted the long-awaited successor to its Atlantis Eurorack module, with this next stage of aural evolution seeing the 101-inspired palette of its predecessor boldly reimagined to deliver a galvanizing array of synthesis possibilities. This complete-voice, all-analog subtractive synthesis module packs power, panache, and pliability into a 42HP footprint, designed to deliver a voltaic suite of leads, basses, and versatile sound-design tools to summit uncharted synth terrain. Its dyad of triangle-core VCOs is complemented by white- and pink-noise sources, a subterranean sub-oscillator, and a pair of aux inputs, all of which can be molded via the module’s 6-channel mixer. Across 32 patch points, 27 toggles, 20 sliders, four knobs, and two rotary switches, satisfying tactility abounds, with Sweetwater’s synth scholars enamored by the instrument’s natural support for detailed, dynamic hands-on expression. Its 2-mode, 4-pole multimode VCF are as flexible as they are formidable, supplemented by a Sample and Hold circuit, two Mod buses, and extensive signal-routing versatility. Capable of patch-less paraphonic performance, multitudes of modulation magic, and variable-symmetry distortions, the Atlantix is unrivaled in its harmonic character, supplying everything from gritty, electro-clash lows to rich, crystalline leads that nod to the iconic CS-80. For all these sonic shaping opportunities, we’re barely scratching the surface.

Malleable, electrifying dual-oscillator architecture

A complete-voice subtractive synthesis module, the Atlantix is brimming with character, with no shortage of opportunities for sonic exploration. Its versatile aural architecture is founded on dual triangle-core, voltage-controlled oscillators: VCO A and VCO B. The primary oscillator — VCO A — can be both hard or soft synced, with independently controllable Index and PWM (pulse-width modulation) parameters to wield its advanced Thru-Zero FM voice. VCO B functions as the modulation oscillator, endowed with hard sync and Linear FM capabilities. Still, the module’s flexibility is maximized by VCO B’s switchable functionality as both a VCO and an LFO. Moreover, VCO B includes a “spike” waveform, augmenting your tone shaping with a fixed-HPF square wave, conjuring rich overtones and harmonics reminiscent of the infamous Easel.

Six channels to mix in, sound out, and span the spectrum

Though both oscillators feature an individually adjustable 8-octave range, the Atlantix expands your spectrum-spanning potential with a vast range of mixing and texturizing tools. Its cavernous, 2-octave sub-oscillator is outfitted with three operating modes, with additional sources for both pink and white noise supplying presence and dimension. Intellijel wasn’t content to stop with this already-immense range of synthesis potential, leading to the inclusion of two Aux inputs, both of which have switched normals sourced from their respective VCOs, empowering you with easily accessed and patch-free paraphonic playing. What’s more, you can route the secondary Aux channel post-VCF and pre-VCA. Altogether, the VCO A waveforms, sub-oscillator, noise sources, and dual Aux inputs can be attenuated with the onboard 6-channel mixer, allowing you to seize and sculpt your synth sonics in real time.

Sonorous filters, growling grit, and shapable textures

This subtractive synthesis module pulls no punches with its texture-crafting capabilities. Its cascaded, multimode filter features 2- and 4-pole variants of low-, high-, and band-pass filters, with an additional multi-notch Phaser mode, resulting in seven distinct sonic shades, with dedicated sliders for both filter frequency and Q values. Plus, of the filter’s trio of modulation sources, the two that are normalled to external pitch and envelope values have dedicated switches for their respective polarity. If you’re looking for a transparent sine wave, then the Atlantix has you covered: the filter can be sent into self-oscillation to produce one that reliably tracks at a 1-volt/octave rate. When you need to add some scorch or sizzle, the module’s Drive tool imbues your sonics with a deliverance of dynamic distortions, capable of both symmetric and asymmetric output modes, with a simple flick of a switch.

Evocative envelopes and modulation magic

Whether you’re looking to craft evocative swells or dynamic velocity reactivity, the VCA of the Atlantix is routed from a versatile, analog ADSR envelope, complete with three selectable timing ranges, as well as external and manual gate-triggering. Dual modulation busses — Mod X and Mod Y — provide a total of 16 modulation sources, including five waveform choices, noise, the VCA, the VCF, and the mixer. Intellijel took the modulation options a step further, by outfitting each output with specified switching of polarity, alongside selectable unipolar and bipolar operation. Additionally, the Atlantix includes an analog Sample and Hold circuit that’s normalled to the synth’s white noise source but can be clocked by VCO B or an external source. If you’re looking for controlled chaos, you can clock the S&H with the module’s gate input, granting access to per-note randomization, perfectly synchronized. With comprehensive internal normal switches, the Atlantix is capable of extensive patch building sans the need for cables. Moreover, its suite of connectivity and modulation options make the module an explosive synth voice with near-limitless interoperative potential.

Intellijel Atlantix Features:
