A Low-volume China Cymbal from the L80 Series

Zildjian L80 Low Volume cymbals are real cymbals that play at a reduced volume — up to 80% less volume, thanks to a unique perforated pattern. This means you can play them exactly how you play any other cymbal, using any stick, mallet, or brush in your stick bag. Unlike cymbals with foam mutes, the 18-inch Zildjian L80 china is vibrant and responsive and will make your precious practice hours translate into better performances. It's the obvious solution for quiet rehearsals and late-night practice at home. Get real cymbal feel and sound at a reduced volume with the 18-inch Zildjian L80 Low Volume china cymbal.

Get Gen16 volume reduction for less money

Zildjian hit a home run with their line of Gen16 electronic cymbals. Now you can get a similar low-volume, great-playing cymbal (minus the electronics but with added affordability) in the Zildjian 18-inch L80 china. Zildjian's L80 cymbals are crafted to behave like a real cymbal for satisfying practice sessions.

Make your practice hours count

Apartments, dorm rooms, and shared practice spaces are prime candidates for the 18-inch Zildjian L80 china. Paired with mesh heads or drum mutes, this cymbal dramatically reduces your sonic footprint wherever you jam.

Zildjian L80 Low Volume 18-inch China Cymbal Features:

  • Up to 80% quieter than traditional Zildjian cymbals
  • Sweetwater-recommended for apartments, dorm rooms, and shared practice spaces
  • Sounds and responds like a real acoustic cymbal
  • Can be played with any stick, mallet, or technique
  • Specially crafted for practice and low-volume rehearsals
  • Protects your hearing
  • Stacks on other cymbals for unique effects
  • Proudly made in the USA

Reviews

Very good cymbal!
I am beyond happy with this amazing L80 18 inch china cymbal from Zildjian. It feels like you are playing a regular cymbal especially playing along with music with headphones in it feels no different than a regular cymbal and I am amazed by this. China cymbals are usually overpowering and since I don't have a proper studio/room for my kit this is perfect for that. I have been a long time user of electronic kits but back in June I purchased my first kit and since then I've been trying and experimenting different cymbals and I have a bunch of different brands and sized and sounds and this is my first china and this is beyond amazing. This is also a good practice cymbal as well if you want to practice something specific where you don't want to have headphones in and you don't want to shatter your eardrums - this is the perfect cymbal for that situation. Very impressed and will definitely be using this for a long time and will be considered as my favorite cymbal as of this far.

Just great.
Being 100% honest: I bought this one because Sabian Quiet Tone line doesn't make a china. I love Zildjian...always have. But I liked the Quiet Tone line better than the L80's for many reasons.
Why Sabian doesn't make a china is beyond me.

That being said...

This thing ROCKS!!
It's definitely quieter than a full volume china, but has enough punch to be used at quieter gigs. Flip it over for a nice swish sound too.

Very durable and just feels right. No complaints.
Music background: Bar basher & sound engineer side thorn.
L 80 China vs Gen 16 China
This is so much more "china" sounding than the Gen 16. The Gen 16 16" almost sounds like a sizzle cym. in comparison with a long high freq. delay. This 18" L 80 is more what I was looking for with a sharper, deeper accent. Still not as "twangy" as a reg. china but it compliments the other L 80's well.
18' Low Volume China.
I ordered the China to have some bright attack to my Low Volume set, pretty darn quiet, a bit more cut would have been nice.

Ask any drummer at Sweetwater, and chances are, we'll tell you that Zildjian represents the gold - or rather bronze - standard in cymbal making. Seriously, Avedis Zildjian may have been trying to make gold, but he did even better when he formulated what's arguably the best cymbal material on the planet. We've played virtually every type of Zildjian cymbal out there, and you won't find anyone at Sweetwater who wouldn't happily recommend their instruments to you, plus their sticks and other accessories are also pretty sweet. Whether you're grabbing your first S or Planet Z pack or have saved up for the A or K series cymbals you've always wanted, Sweetwater is your source for all things Zildjian.
