A forever item
This is a quality item. The tube is steel (magnet sticks to it). There is a cushion in the bottom of the tube and rubber around the rim so the sticks don't rattle. The clamp is solid and has rubber pads. Holds solid and won't scratch anything.
Couldn't be better. This is as solid as any of my stands.
Perfect Stick Caddy for Electronic Drums
I had been using an old Vic Firth stick bag hanging on the rack of my electronic drum set. To be fair, it was a very old stick bag when I got it. Every time I dropped my sticks into the bag, the bottom get weaker. Finally, the bottom gave way. So, I would drop my sticks into the bag and the tips would go out the bottom and land on the rug.

Most of the other stick caddies that I looked at were intended to clamp to a cymbal or high hat stand, or something with a relatively small diameter. Since I'm playing an electronic kit, there is nothing that small. It's the 1-1/2" tube or nothing at all. I emailed Matt explaining the problem and he pointed me at this Vic Firth stick caddy which is able to clamp to the larger diameter rack of my kit. The way the caddy is attached to the clamp with another screw mount make it easy to position the caddy however I want it.

Also, it has padding at the bottom of the container, so the stick tips don't get banged up - something super important for mesh heads.
