Akai’s MPC Live III and MPC XL grooveboxes ushered in an unexpected yet galvanizing innovation by revamping the performance pads that have shaped entire genres and movements with the debut of MPCe multi-zone technology. With Denon DJ’s second-gen take on the Prime 4 platform, 16 MPCe pads unlock highly advanced 3D-sensing capabilities that let you mix and match functions and parameters on a single pad. Moreover, these can be deployed via vivid stem-manipulation tools, alongside overhauled sampling, 1-shot, looping, and hot-cue possibilities, as well as detailed sound design tools, filters, and more. Each deck supports precise extraction via dedicated buttons for Instant Acapella and Instant Instrumental, as well as Stem Level EQ and Stems Pad Mode. Stem Level EQ lets you co-op the respective channel’s 3-band EQ controls and upfaders to carefully and creatively adjust the presence of each separated stem, while Stems Pad Mode — a returning feature from previous Denon DJ gear — is supercharged by the multimodality of the MPCe tech. Moreover, each of the full-sized, 8-inch jogwheels provides instant, essential track info, including stem statuses and cue positions.

To ensure everyone can get in on the action, Denon DJ elected to include Bluetooth Deck compatibility with the Prime 4 G2, meaning tablets and smartphones transform into audio mixing and control devices. Given the sheer diversity of sound sources, management, and routing supports, you can mix and match. Arguably the system’s prized feature, the onboard OmniSource technology allows you to seamlessly mix across not just streaming and file sources; it also includes standalone and computer-supported modes, all simultaneously available.

Furthermore, the Prime 4 G2 supports SoundSwitch DMX Micro and Control One interfaces and controllers, up to 1,024 channels.
