A Better Drum-rim Mic Mount

The Avantone PK-1 Pro-Klamp is a professional drum-rim mic mount for stage and studio. The chrome-plated, all-metal Pro-Klamp blends nicely with your drum hardware and has three stages of rubber dampening to isolate the mic from vibration. Pro-Klamp is specially designed not to harm the finish of your drums — which is definitely possible with some rim mounts. Drummers at Sweetwater are impressed with Pro-Klamp. Thanks to its rugged build quality (backed up by a 5-year warranty), Pro-Klamps can be set up on your drum rims and simply be left in place. Just clip in your mics and start playing!

Perfect
I needed a mic clip to mount my SM57 onto my snare. This Avantone clamp does the job. It's very durable and holds the SM57 (a small but dense & heavy mic) with no effort. The 3-point rubber contacts ensure absolutely no unwanted sounds make it into my recordings. It clamps to my snare without choking it and holds on like a mothertrucker. At this price, I'm hard-pressed to believe that you could find a better snare clip. Get one.

Simple & Effective
Mounts on the rim simply and securely, holds the mic securely. The rubber claws grips nicely without a lot of tightening, and the mic mount bolt is very easy to adjust. The picture is a little confusing because the clamp is shown laying on its side. Rotate it to the right 90 degrees and imagine slipping it downward on the rim, then you'll notice the mic actually mounts on what apprears in the picture to be the underneath side. Hope that helps. Highly recommended.

Really nice but..
Does not fit wooden hoops on kick. Size of rim matters and other than that….. impressive
Sits too far into the shell.
Overall quality wise, it's a well made clamp. My only gripe is the angle isn't far enough back, making most mics protrude too much over the shell and making it far more likely to get whacked by a drum stick. Ideally with something like an SM57, you'd want the grill of the mic barely over the shell vs having 1/3 of it hanging over the skin. I suppose if you're the drummer it doesn't matter as much but if your an audio guy using your drum mics, you may want to consider something more like the plastic clips from Lewitt.
