Classic Resonator Power and Twang

Though initially designed to meet the volume needs of gigging guitarists and bandleaders, the twangy, metallic tone of resonator guitars became a staple of genres like bluegrass, country, and various Hawaiian styles. Nearly a century has passed since their inception, and artists of all kinds continue turning to resonator guitars for everything from contemporary blues and folk to lap steel playing and beyond. Fender's PR-180E Resonator guitar equips you with that coveted power and one-of-a-kind sound at a great price, optimized with a spider resonator cone and modern-day electronics for perfect playability on stage and in the studio. Finally, an all-mahogany body lays a warm and full tonal foundation for the onboard Fishman electronics, amplifying this resonator's natural woody voice with exceptional results.

Natural amplified tone courtesy of Fishman electronics

The Fender PR-180E is an undeniable feast for the ears when played acoustically — its all-mahogany body delivers velvety warmth and long-lasting sustain with every strum. Plug it in, and the PR-180E truly shines with its organic, woody tone translated perfectly via the onboard Fishman Nashville Series Resophonic pickup. Fishman electronics are a favorite among Sweetwater players for myriad reasons, most notably due to the natural sound delivered in acoustic instruments.

Fender PR-180E Resonator Guitar Features:

  • Classic resonator sound and feel optimized for today's players
  • All-mahogany body lays a rich and warm tonal foundation
  • Mahogany neck and walnut fingerboard feel smooth in the hand and under the fingers
  • Spider resonator cone offers a significant volume boost when unplugged
  • Built-in Fishman Nashville Series Resophonic pickup delivers organic amplified tone

Wait a minute.....
Any Difference from the Gretch Line? Looks exactly the same. Not sure the "Fender" name adds to the quality of a Gretch resonator.. Who they own. 5-Stars for my Gretch version....

Great Little Guitar
This little guy sounds great! It's a solid mahogany side and back guitar that has a crisp sound. The finish is a little gritty but that doesn't effect the sound quality. I should have worked today, but, it came bevfedex early and I couldn't put it down. Not.much work done today! The price is great and so is the sound. It's stage.ready and it packs the sound well.

Great Budget Resonator for the Performing Musician
This is a great resonator for the money. Sounds great, especially when plugged into an amplifier. Plays well, has fantastic action, and can suit a variety of different playing styles. Plus, it comes with a form fitting hard case, which is a bargain for this price. The only downsides with this guitar is that it is a little quiet if it is not plugged in and the soft v neck might not be as comfortable as a c or d shaped neck. Still, this is a really enjoyable guitar and sounds even better than it looks!

Good reso
I wanted a round neck resophonic without spending a lot. This Fender checked the boxes. Decent tone but sounds better plugged in. I tuned to several different tunings and it holds tune good. I think it's a good choice especially since it comes with a hard shell case and built in electronics.

Good Budget Resonator
For gigging it'll be fine, as long as you're putting it through a decent amp. I put mine through a Loudbox Artist or Deluxe Reverb. It has good action and playability, it's just not too loud on it's own. But I'd say not plugged in it's good enough to practice your chops, especially if you use a slide.
