Blurring the Line Between Banjo and Guitar
Designed by Gold Tone co-founder Wayne Rogers, the WR-7 signature 7-string banjitar is an unprecedented instrument. It’s built similarly to an old-time banjo with an open-back maple body, Remo head, and floating bridge. That’s where the similarities end, though. The WR-7 comes with a guitar-style maple neck and seven strings. The low E strings are doubled, allowing you to play with drone notes whenever you want. While you can certainly play the WR-7 like a guitar, a mini scoop in the rosewood fingerboard supplies extra space for playing clawhammer banjo pieces. Gold Tone also included a preinstalled SMP+ pickup for gigging with an amplifier. Guitar players looking for a surefire way to add banjo tones to their arsenal will love playing the Gold Tone WR-7 Wayne Rogers signature 7-string banjitar.

Banjo or guitar? It’s both!
Dating back to his nascent days at Strings N’ Things Music Center, Wayne Rogers demonstrated his keen understanding of what musicians desire from their existing and future instruments. That expertise is apparent in the design of the WR-7 banjitar. It comes with a chunky guitar-style neck that features doubled low E strings, which act as one or more drone strings. So, should you play it like a guitar or a banjo? The answer is both. You can play it like a standard 6-string acoustic guitar or take a traditional clawhammer banjo approach. Whatever musical mood you find yourself in, the WR-7 has the flexibility to make it happen.

12-inch maple rim and open-back body
The WR-7 Wayne Rogers signature 7-string banjitar has an open-back banjo body. It measures 12 inches in diameter, giving you more bass response. The multi-ply maple rim teams with a rolled brass flat bar tone ring and flat bar tension hoop to supply a well-balanced tone reminiscent of vintage open-back banjos. You also get Gold Tone’s Terminator tailpiece. Plus, the WR-7 ships from Sweetwater with a Remo LC Renaissance head.
Humbucking pickup for playing live
Open-back banjos are at a natural disadvantage when it comes to stage volume. Luckily, the WR-7 Wayne Rogers banjitar has a solution: an onboard pickup. An acoustic-electric instrument, the WR-7’s plugged-in voice is supplied by an SMP+ humbucking pickup. It delivers a strong and robust signal that accurately translates the acoustic tone through an amp without any added hum. Finally, the SMP+ is installed on the coordinator rods, allowing you to position it wherever sounds best.
