Excellent All-around Preamp Tube

Searching for a top-shelf replacement preamp tube for your high-gain guitar amplifier? This excellent 12AX7 vacuum tube from Electro-Harmonix boasts a high-gain, low-plate-current, dual-triode design. At Sweetwater, we've found that this tube yields extremely low noise, due to its unique spiral filament, which makes short work of annoying cathode-to-filament induced hum. If you're in need of a high-performing preamplifier vacuum tube, the EHX 12AX7 is a great all-around choice.

Electro-Harmonix 12AX7 Preamp Tube Features:

  • A top-shelf replacement preamp tube for 12AX7/ECC83-loaded guitar amplifiers
  • Boasts a high-gain, low-plate-current, dual-triode design
  • Excels in high-gain applications
  • Unique spiral filament makes short work of cathode-to-filament induced hum
  • Many OEMs use relabeled Electro-Harmonix vacuum tubes in their amplifiers

Reviews

Large diameter.
I've had fine results with Electro Harmonix tubes before and trust there quality control. Unfortunately these are a little larger diameter than
the stock tube on my Vintage Champ and do not fit into the socket. No worries I can use this in a different Fender Amp. I will be sure to request Chris Leonards assistance when I order another brand. Tube dimensions do not appear to be specified anywhere.
Perfect in a JCM 2000 TSL
I have these in my pre-amp section on my JCM 2000 TSL100, love the tone. Perfect compliment to the rest of the amp!
Original
Very good as always have been

One of my fav 12ax7
These are one of my favorite options for new tubes. I've had it in my amp for hours and hours of playing so far all is well.
Doesn't last
I switched out a Mesa 12AX7 tube for this Electro-Harmonix 12AX7 in a Marshall Valvestate 8100...I liked the Mesa but wanted to try something else...First EH lasted 15 minutes after install...contacted Sweetwater and they sent a replacement free of charge...Installed the second one and it lasted about 45 minutes before just slowly dying out....Put the Mesa back in and it works fine with no issues...could it be 2 bad tubes or something else...not sure...didn't try to get another one after the second one failed...While it worked it did sound amazing with great sustain!
