A Top-of-the-line Boundary Mic

The AKG PCC160 is the industry-standard stage floor microphone — for good reason. This low-profile boundary layer mic boasts a wide, smooth frequency response from 50Hz to 18kHz, and it can tackle up to 120dB SPL without breaking a sweat. Here at Sweetwater, we've gotten great use out of the PCC160's 3-position bass-tilt switch, which permits you to fine-tune the mic's low-end response for any source or application. PCC (Phase Coherent Cardioid) technology employs ultra-small diaphragms to safeguard against phase cancellations, yielding a wide, smooth frequency response with zero phase interference. Beyond that, the PCC160's half-supercardioid polar pattern offers outstanding gain before feedback and minimizes unwanted pit noise in stage applications. Whether you use it on a stage floor, on a conference table, or as an ambient mic, the AKG PCC160 is a top-of-the-line supercardioid boundary microphone.

Reviews

I have used this mic with great success for years
I have a pair of this microphone, in the original Crown version, and I have used them for a variety of things for the last 30 years. It is an astoundingly excellent grand piano microphone with one microphone positioned treble side near the hammers and the other back by the bass bridge, stuck to the lid with double-sided tape. I've used as them as a stage microphone for both orchestral and choral work. And I've often used them as room microphones in a recording studio.

Crown PCC-160 mic
Used it for an elementary school production of the Wizard of Oz. I put this new one along with my other two right on the front of the stage. I put the bright yellow spike tape a little closer where I want them to stand and sing than I do for high school. They sounded great and all the parents could hear their kids songs and lines. Had a great show, great kids singing their hearts out and another great mic. Gotta Love Theater!
PCC-160 on grand piano
I own a pair, and frequently do live sound situations where it is preferable to have a piano lid closed....gaff tape these babies to the inside of the lid....amazing!

Good Service
Good service and dispatch fast
Sounds like backing tracks
Found several of these in storage at an amphitheater. They had been used previously, but not in several years. We put them near groups of performers hidden in scenery. During the performance we slowly started mixing them in. The sound was so realistic and present we were accused of using pre-recorded tracks. These were old banged up units and they still preformed perfectly.
