A Streamlined 10-slot 500 Series Rack

Create your ideal signal chain with the Midas L10 500 Series rackmount chassis. The 10-slot L10 features advanced audio routing to streamline your cabling and a beefy auto-ranging universal switch-mode power supply so you can confidently travel anywhere in the world with your favorite modules. The L10 chassis provides I/O connectivity and 48-volt phantom power for up to 10 modules in a roadworthy steel chassis that occupies just three 19-inch rack spaces. And if your compressor modules support it, the L10's Comp Bus Link switches even let you link them together for stereo or multichannel sidechain operation without the necessity of insert cables.

Optimized signal quality, simplified setup

If your 500 Series chassis does double duty in the studio and on the road, you want to minimize cabling issues. Sweetwater gets that. Which is why the L10 will be a welcome breath of fresh air. Midas spec’d the rack with audio output link switches that make short work of connecting and rearranging your modules without cable hassles. Simply install your modules in the order you want, and the signal will daisy-chain through them without the need for additional cables. So you can keep your rack neat while optimizing signal integrity.

Flawless
I had the L6 which worked great but ran out of slots. I've got this L10 filled with 9 units and it's just perfect. No issues with noise and seems to have plenty of power. Now I use the L6 as a portable when I need to bring a few of my modules to the commercial studio I also work with. Here are the modules I use with both without issue: SSL VHD pres, SSL 611DYN compressor, CAPI VP312 pres, Emiprical Labs DerrEsser, Midas 512 EQ's, Chameleon Labs 560 EQ.

I've almost filled it up and will get another without hesitation. Then I'll be able to stack them with pres on the top one and EQ's/Compressors on the bottom. I love the L10 as much as the L6 and the whole 500 series format was a great invention.

Midas L-10
Has worked great for me. My only problem has been how to fill it up.
My New 500 Racks
I bought two of these Midas racks to go along with my existing API 500V 10-slot rack.

The two Midas 500 racks are front and center in the meter bridge on my 40-channel Soundcraft console. There they provide power and connections to a variety of modules I like to look at while mixing, these include custom level meters and a pair of Rupert Neve 542 tape emulators (which have sensitive transformers inside).

All the racks seem to be equal in performance, the Midas versions with their in-built power supplies are clean and quiet. I really like not having a clunky analog power supply back behind the console like the API rack requires.

Overall I think these Midas racks are a big WIN for us folks who love 500 modules and need lots of space.

Good music to you!

Midas lunch box.....cheap but not cheap!
Right out of the box this lunch box has worked flawlessly. No need to spend $500-$1,000 on a unit when Midas produces this level of quality at a price that's affordable.
So far, I'm impressed
I took a chance on this - the Behringer acquisition had me a little leery, but on paper the specs looked great and it was a couple hundred cheaper than alternative rackmount chassis I was looking at, so I figured it was worth a try and if there were any real issues with build quality I could just return it.

When I unboxed it, the unit was reassuringly substantial-feeling; the aluminum was thick, robust, and anodized an attractive light blue, the front panel power switch felt extremely heavy duty, the backpanel switching felt secure, and overall the unit seemed well made. I've used it for a couple months now, and I haven't had any issues - this is my only 500 series chassis so I can't speak to shielding and unit noise in a comparative sense, but I also haven't noticed any, either. At present I have 4 units installed in the chassis, so I also can't speak to how hit handles power draw with a full 10-unit configuration, but again, so far so good.

Overall the features are excellent - I wanted something with a front panel power switch, and I liked the back-panel routing options as well, where you could route the output of one unit into the input of the next with no additional cabling. The minor quibble I have with the unit is the pre-installed feet (for desktop operation) and mounting screws all use a small Torx star-headed screw, and I don't believe the package comes with one - if you don't have a multi-headed screwdriver with a number of different head sizes (I forget what size I ended up needing) you'll want to grab one. I'd also suggest grabbing the optional slot covers if you have unused spaces.

Several months in, though, I've been very happy with this unit, and I definitely have no regrets about purchasing one. It feels very well made.
