Supersize Your Tracks
Do you want vocals, bass, and kick drums that sound ginormous? We all do! Now it's easy, with the Little Labs VOG. VOG stands for Voice of God, which should pretty much explain what the VOG does. Originally designed to approximate the chest resonance of vocalists, announcers, DJs, and such, the circuit lets you dial in the desired amount of proximity effect without having to "eat" the mic. Once enterprising engineers tried VOG on bass and kick drums, though, it became an easy, effective way to make them sound huge, instantly.

VOG lets you sweep a sharp peak resonance from 20 to 300Hz, while anything below the peak is rolled off at 24dB per octave. This lets you fine-tune your bottom end while eliminating low-end mush and gratuitous woofer excursion. You can focus on the subharmonic, the fundamental, or upper harmonics. On a bass drum, for instance, turning VOGs frequency knob sounds like you're tightening or loosening the drumhead. In the context of your mix, VOG lets you place the bass spectrum instruments in their own "space" without interfering with each other. At Sweetwater, we've put VOG through the paces, and can verify that it's the simplest way to add instant size to any track.
