Practice Longer, Later, and Safer with L80s

Zildjian L80 Low Volume cymbals are real cymbals that play at a reduced volume — up to 80% less volume, thanks to a unique perforated pattern. This means you can play them exactly how you play any other cymbal, using any stick, mallet, or brush in your stick bag. Unlike cymbals with foam mutes, the 16" Zildjian L80 crash is vibrant and responsive, and will make your precious practice hours translate into better performances. It's the obvious solution for quiet rehearsals and late-night practice at home. Get real cymbal feel and sound at a reduced volume with the 16" Zildjian L80 Low Volume crash.

Get Gen16 volume reduction for less money

Zildjian hit a home run with its line of Gen16 electronic cymbals. Now you can get a similar low-volume, great-playing cymbal (minus the electronics but with added affordability) in the Zildjian 16" L80 crash. Zildjian's L80 cymbals are crafted to behave like a real cymbal for satisfying practice sessions.

Make your practice hours count

Apartments, dorm rooms, and shared practice spaces are prime candidates for the 16" Zildjian L80 crash cymbal. Paired with mesh heads or drum mutes, this cymbal dramatically reduces your sonic footprint wherever you jam.

Zildjian L80 Low Volume 16" Crash Cymbal Features:

Reviews

Rock Dad
I have a beautiful 3-year-old girl and I hadn't been able to play because of the volume. I discovered the low volume cymbal pack with the silent REMO drum heads. Since then I have bought a couple of others and replaced all my Z-Custom cymbals and have changed my aquarian drum heads: 10; 12; 14; 16 and 14 snare. It is an absolute game changer! I can actually play hard and it's completely toned down. My daughter has even started playing herself and the volume is not bad at all.
Music background: Hard rock and Metal
What a great invention!
I bought the 10" splash about a week previous, knew right away I would want a companion for it. Finally a way to get a true cymbal tone, timbre, sustain and dynamics at a reduced volume. Very cool.
Plays well with unamplified acoustic guitar
No head phones or hearing protection needed and sounds really good. Don't need to modify your playing in style or intensity. I may even try to record with it.

I'm using it with mesh heads on my drums. I also added a kick patch and snare dot to get a little bit more out of the kick and more snare activation. Snare is still a bit weak but better than no snare activation at all. Snare drum itself sounds fine with the snare off. Toms are fine with just mesh heads.

Also have the L80 HHs and ride.
DON'T WAKE THE BABY
These Zildjian L80's are VERY quiet, if that's what you want. They are good for bedroom practice but are probably too muted to play together with amplified instruments. I prefer the Sabian Quiet Tone cymbals which don't look as nice, but have a bit more volume, sustain, and sizzle and are a better choice for a rehearsal or cocktail kit.
It works.
Cymbal works as designed to be a great practice cymbal. (Not a good replacement for gen16 cymbal connected to gen16 module though)
Music background: Christian Jazz percussionist and drummer.

Ask any drummer at Sweetwater, and chances are, we'll tell you that Zildjian represents the gold - or rather bronze - standard in cymbal making. Seriously, Avedis Zildjian may have been trying to make gold, but he did even better when he formulated what's arguably the best cymbal material on the planet. We've played virtually every type of Zildjian cymbal out there, and you won't find anyone at Sweetwater who wouldn't happily recommend their instruments to you, plus their sticks and other accessories are also pretty sweet. Whether you're grabbing your first S or Planet Z pack or have saved up for the A or K series cymbals you've always wanted, Sweetwater is your source for all things Zildjian.
