Aquiles Priester's PsychoOctopus Signature
Veteran metal timekeeper Aquiles Priester has collaborated with Mapex to fuse the company's Black Panther and Artist Collection series of premium snares into one backbeat to rule them all: the PsychOctopus snare drum! The ominous depth of this 8-inch x 14-inch snare joins an 11-ply hybrid shell of maple and padauk for undeniable punch and razor-sharp clarity. Sonic Saver hoops and Black Panther lugs deliver effortless playability and enhanced tuning stability, while a titanic 30-strand set of snare wires and a Cylinder Drive strainer system drive this snare's extra-fat delivery. A duo of rock-steady Evans drumheads also helps heighten playing sensitivity and improve durability. Tied up in Gun Metal Grey with brushed black hardware finishing and unique badging to boot, the PsychOctopus snare drum is guaranteed to stand out from the pack from first sight to final blow.

Deep shell of maple and padauk
Crafted to deliver ridiculous depth and hard-punching backbeats, the PsychOctopus snare drum features an 11mm, 11-ply hybrid shell of maple and padauk wood. Maple, renowned for its relentless punch and highly articulate natural character, establishes a fantastic foundation for metal rhythms, further enhanced by the cutting presence and clarity of padauk internal plying. The shell also boasts Mapex’s iconic SONIClear bearing edges, which promote exceptional tonal purity and a wider, more flexible tuning range compared to standard offerings. From hard rock to heavy metal and beyond, this behemoth will command every tune with unmistakable authority.
Performance-ready hardware
To provide an optimal playing experience, the PsychOctopus snare drum comes fitted with Mapex’s inward-flanged Sonic Saver hoops and ultra-stable, rubber-insulated Black Panther lugs. Underneath, a 30-strand set of snare wires helps produce an incredibly fat snare tone, with Mapex’s Cylinder Drive throw off providing instantaneous command. Additionally, Evans HD Dry and 300 series heads, each featuring the PsychOctopus logo, ensure flawless durability and a sensitive response. It’s all treated with a moody brushed-black finish for an inspiring look, from the studio booth to the stage riser.
