What are the recommended system specifications?
The best performance will probably be found in a 1+ GHz AMD Athlon system with DDR RAM. It will also be generally less expensive than a Pentium setup. We are not recommending the Pentium 4, as the chip itself costs as much as a complete Athlon system. And despite the higher clock speed, it may not be any faster.
If you’re doing medium to large projects (at least 24 tracks) we recommend (at least) 512 MB of DDR RAM.
For storage, it’s best to have separate drives for Windows and your audio files. These can be ATA drives, but we recommend a motherboard with support for two (separate) ATA busses and ATA-100 support. (IBM Deskstar drives are recommmended.) SCSI is also an excellent solution with potentially better performance (at much higher cost, of course).
