Updating the VM7100/7200 digitial mixer with a Standard Midi File

** VM-7100/7200 Processor SMF Update Procedure **

The tools required are:
1) MIDI sequencer (software or hardware) that can
load and playback Standard Midi Files containing
SysEx information. Note: it is convenient to use
a MIDI sequencer that can playback SMF data
consecutively.
2) MIDI cable
3) XLR cable
4) VM-7100/7200 V-Mixing Processor System Software
update disk(s)
5) VM-7100/7200 V-Mixing Processor

1) Use the MIDI cable to connect the MIDI OUT port
of the sequencer to the MIDI IN port of the
VM-7100/7200 Processor.
2) Connect the XLR cable from the VM-LINK OUT to the
VM-LINK IN connectors on the VM-7100/7200. In
other words, the processor is routed to itself
and not connected to the console.
3) Hold [MUTE ALL OUTPUTS] while powering the
processor ON. When the LED begins to blink
green at a different frequency than for the
normal start-up, release the button.
4) Playback the SMF data in sequential order.
The LED will change to red confirming that the
processor is receiving the file. After all
files have been played, the LED will go dark,
indicating that the update is complete.
5) Turn OFF the power of the VM-7100/7200 Processor.

NOTE: To check the Operating System version, turn
ON the system for normal operations. Hold down the
[oN DISPLAY] button (found in the console’s SECTION area)
and press keypad [F9](MACRO 9). A display will open
labeled, “Roland Digital Mixer VM-C7200”.
“System Version” indicates the current operating
system of the console. “Unit Version” indicates the
current operating system for the processor. Press any
key on the console to exit this screen and return to
the main LEVEL METER display.
