How to Update Karma System Software

Note: This update will erase all Programs, Combis and Global data in the Karma Music
Workstation! Please back-up your data before performing this upgrade. Also in this
download is a revised version of the factory data, optimized for Version 2.0.
1. Hold down the [ENTER] and [LOCATE] buttons while turning on the Karma. The display
will show “Please insert System 1 disk”.
2. Insert System Disk #1 of the 2.0 OS version into the drive.
3. New System Software installation will begin at this point. DO NOT INTERRUPT THE
POWER WHILE THE SYSTEM IS BEING UPDATED!
4. During installation the following messages will appear:
– “Now loading…”
– “Now erasing ROM”
– “Checking system’s checksum”
5. Shortly, you will be prompted with “please change to a No.002 disk”
6. Eject Disk 1 and insert System Disk No. 2 into the drive. When it finishes loading you will
be prompted for the third and final disk.
7. When the following messages appear, O.S. installation has been completed successfully
and the Karma will restart automatically:
– “Checking the system’s check sum”
– “System load was completed”
8. Turn Off the Karma, and once again, turn it back ON while holding down the [ENTER] and
[LOCATE] buttons. Insert the first GE disk and the data will begin to load. When prompted,
insert the second GE disk. The Karma will re-start when the data has finished loading.
9. Finally, load the revised .PCG data and enjoy your new System Software!
