How do I get an unsupported device like the Roland RS 5/9 into MOTU Freestyle for Windows?

There are four things that you need to do to get a unsupported device into freestyle PC.

The first thing to do would be to make sure that the RS 5/9 patch document is a DFN files.

Next, there is a FreeMIDI folder located in the C: Drive>Windows folder.
Inside here there is a FreeMIDI devices document (DEVICES.INI) and a default names folder just like on a mac, but there’s also another crucial document called DEFNAMES.MAP.
First thing to do would be to drag and drop the patchlist document into the
Roland folder in the DEFNAMES folder.

Next would be to copy and paste the FreeMIDI Device string alphebetically
under the Roland section into the DEVICES.INI document.

The final, and tricky step is to type in an alias for the device in the
DEFNAMES.MAP document. In the case of the RS 5/9 have him type in exactly

RS5/9=RS 5/9

Once these steps are done, the device should appear inside of Freestyle and
the user should have access to the patchlist.
