Trigger 2 Expansion Software Activation Instructions
In this guide, we will show you how to register, download, and install Trigger 2 expansion packs. Follow the instructions below to get started.
Register Passcode
The first step in activating your Trigger 2 expansion pack is registering it with Steven Slate Audio using the passcode you received from your Sweetwater Sales Engineer.
- Log into your Steven Slate Audio account.
- Once in your account, click Add Products, copy and paste the passcode you received from your Sweetwater Sales Engineer, then click SUBMIT.

Download and Install
IMPORTANT!This article assumes you already have Slate Audio Center and the base Trigger 2 virtual instrument installed. If you don’t yet, please visit our Trigger 2 Platinum Software Activation Instructions to learn more.
Once your Trigger 2 is registered to your account, you must download and install the expansion via the Slate Audio Center application. We recommend closing all other applications beforehand to ensure the installation goes smoothly.
- Launch Slate Audio Center. If prompted, enter your Steven Slate Audio account credentials.
- Click Trigger 2, click Expansions, then click INSTALL, which islocated next to the expansion you just registered.
- On the next page, you can choose where to install the expansion. We recommend selecting the same folder where your core Trigger 2 library is.

Link Trigger 2 Expansion Libraries
Now that the expansion libraries are installed, you must link your expansion to the Trigger 2 virtual instrument. No additional work is necessary if you have installed the expansion library to the same directory as your core Trigger 2 content. However, if you have installed in a different location, you’ll need to link its license file.
- Launch your DAW and add Trigger 2 on a new instrument track.
- Click Settings. If it’s installed in the same directory, the license file should appear, and you’ll be good to go.
- If you installed the expansion in a different location or you receive an error mentioning it’s missing a license file, click Select License File, navigate to the directory where you installed the library, and select the .tlc file so it is recognized by Trigger 2.
