The MDR2496 uses the standard FTP protocol to transfer files back and forth between the MDR and a computer. You’d need a FTP utility (many freeware versions are available) to access the MDR like you would any server.
The native audio file format for the MDR24/96 is WAV. So any application on your PC that can import WAV files, will work. But a 3rd party application won’t be able to import the entire MDR session (with all edits, fades, etc…)
