How do I Sub-mix Drums through an External Compressor
Necessary Equipment:
1 DB25 to 8 x _” breakout cable
2 _” TRS to TRS cables
1 Stereo Compressor (duh)

1. Setup your Drum Levels and Panning.
2. Turn L/R Assign Off for all Drum Channels.
3. Turn Buss 1 & 2 On for all Drum Channels.
4. Switch to Masters Fader Bank.
5. Make sure that Buss 1 & 2 Faders are set to -U- (Channel Strips 17/18)
6. Switch to Mic /Line Fader Bank (1-24)
7. From the Buss Out / Surround Out D-Sub cable, take 1 & 2 and connect to the Inputs of the Compressor.
8. Take the Outputs of the Compressor and plug them into Line Ins (23)/(24).
9. Set Faders (23)/(24) to -U-.
10. Pan Ch. (23) Left, Pan Ch. (24) Right.
11. Turn L/R Assign On for Ch’s (23)/(24)
12. Shift Select All Drum Channels and Ch’s (23) and (24)
13. From Computer Screen. Select: Channel Menu| Adjust Channel Delay…
14. Set Channel Delay for all Non-Selected Channels: 110 samples. (Use 110 for the initial setting. This can be fine-tuned afterwards by Repeating Steps 12-14*)
*Channel Delay will vary depending on model of compressor.
