How do I setup the Koblo Studio9000 engine to work with Direct Connect and Pro Tools?
1) Install the Studio 9000 and Direct Connect software and restart the Mac. 2) Launch Pro Tools and make two new tracks: one MIDI and one stereo aux. Make sure to turn up the volume on the stereo aux track. 3) Instantiate the Tokyo plug-in on the stereo aux track (it may not be in alphabetical order in the plug-ins list). This will launch the Tokyo application and bring up the Tokyo plug-in window. 4) On the MIDI track, set the destination or output to IAC#1 – channel 1. This will allow MIDI communication between Koblo and Pro Tools. With your Koblo synth set to receive on this same IAC bus and channel, any MIDI data played in Pro Tools will trigger the Koblo synth to playback audio.5) Go to the Finder menu in the upper right hand corner of the screen and select Tokyo. Go under the Synths menu and open any synth. At the bottom right hand corner of the synth go to “Out Ch” and select a stereo output pair, i.e 1-2. 6) Still in Koblo, go under the file menu to Select Drivers and set MIDI Driver to OMS and Audio Driver to Direct Connect. Next, go under the Options menu and make sure Transmit MIDI is checked. Also under the Options menu, go to MIDI Setup and set the DOC bus to IAC#1, channel 1. Note that for additional Koblo synths being triggered by additional Pro Tools MIDI tracks, you will want to set each synth and respective MIDI track to send and receive on independent channels (1-16) of the IAC bus.7) Back in Pro Tools, go to the Tokyo plug-in window, click on the “no links selected” box, and select Tokyo Stereo Out 1-2 as your virtual stereo bus. Selecting a Tokyo Stereo Out will allow audio from one or more Koblo synths to play in Pro Tools. You will not be able make a selection in this box if there are no Koblo synths open.8) Record some MIDI notes onto the Pro Tools MIDI track. You should hear Koblo playing back through the stereo aux track within Pro Tools.
