SCSI connections – SCSI adapters between different types/speeds SCSI connections – SCSI adapters between different types/speeds

There seems to be quite a bit confusion still as to what cables are needed when connecting 50pin devices and ultrawide devices in a scsi chain. Here is some info to hopefully clear things up.

First off, all 50 pin devices we carry in stock have 25pin to 50 pin cables. This means that if the customer has an ultrawide scsi card, he will need some extra cables sold. Below are some guidelines for connecting ultrawide devices and 50 pin devices to each card we carry.

2940UW

If a customer wishes to hook up an ultrawide hard drive to a 2940uw card, he will not need any extra cables.

If a customer wishes to hook up a 50 pin scsi device to a 2940uw card, (or chain it to the end of an ultrawide hard drive), he has two options.
1)A 68pinadapter, AND a 5050scsi cable.
or
2)A glyph High9 adapter AND a 50scsi2 cable.
This method is a bit more expensive than method 1, but also seems to be more reliable as it actively (rather than passively) terminates the high 18 pins.

3940uw and the attodcuw cards.

To connect an ultrawide hard drive to any dual port card, the customer must also have a VHDCi3 cable.

If a customer wishes to connect a 50pin device directly to a dual port card (as opposed to chaining to the hard drive) he will need a VHD503 cable.
