Reinstalling FreeMIDI – The most effective method.

Typically, there is no need to reinstall FreeMIDI. It is quite stable and reliable. However if you experience problems, and have tried other options first, reinstalling may be useful.
In order to accurately determine that reinstalling FreeMIDI is necessary, we recommend that you contact Sweetwater Technical Support or MOTU Technical Support before reinstalling FreeMIDI.
Once again, make sure you’ve tried other troubleshooting tips (many listed in our Knowledgebase) first.

Before reinstalling FreeMIDI, “deinstall” it by trashing the following items.

Mac HD
– FreeMIDI Applications

Mac HD >>> System Folder
– FreeMIDI Folder

Mac HD >>> System Folder >>> Extensions
– FreeMIDI System Extension
– FreeMIDI PowerPlug
– FreeMIDI Softsynth
– MOTU USB Driver

Mac HD >>> System Folder >>> Preferences
– FreeMIDI Preferences
– FreeMIDI Setup Prefs
– FreeMIDI SoftSynth Prefs

Restart your computer, then empty the trash.

Then you can perform an “easy install” of FreeMIDI from the MOTU USB CD, or a “custom install” of FreeMIDI from you Digital Performer CD (you only need to use one of the two CD’s, not both). You could also download the latest version of FreeMIDI at www.motu.com
Restart after installing, then launch FreeMIDI Setup and configure before launching any applications.
