How do I reinitialize my Alesis unit?
Digitally controlled hardware, such as a reverb, leyboard, or ADAT is controlled by instructions lock in its memory. Sometimes ( as a result of a power glitch, a cosmic ray hitting one of the memory cells, or a particular set of incoming commands), these instructions get scrambled and the machine doesn’t work normally. Other times, there’s nothing really wrong, but people have inadvertently changed a setting causing a problem.
Reinitialization “recharges” the device’s memory with a fresh copy of the instruction (sort of like rebooting a computer), and is the first step to try when your product begins behaving strangely. Merely turning the device off and on doesn’t reinitialize it.
You have to hold particular buttons on the front panel while turning the device on in order to reinitialize it. Be advised, though, that reinitialization will also reset all parameters to the original factory settings. For example, on a QS synthesizer, the MIDI settings may become different from what you choose for your setup. On an ADAT or BRC, all Locate points will be reset to zero. So, write down or back up via MIDI any information that’s crucial to your setup. (Be advised, however, that sometimes the user data itself IS the problem, if it contains illegal commands. Test the unit to see if reinitialization solved the problem before you reload your user data.
PRODUCT RE-INITIALIZATION ROUTINES
CAUTION! – Most of these routines will cause memory to revert back to factory specifications, thus losing all edited parameters. To ensure that loss of “USER” programs does not occur, back up DATA via MIDI or RAM Card.

Offer applies only to single-receipt qualifying purchases. Select manufacturers may require that only the manufacturer’s products qualify towards the minimum purchase amount needed to be eligible for promotional financing. Otherwise, an invoice that meets the minimum purchase amount and contains at least one qualifying manufacturer product is eligible for promotional financing. No interest will be charged on promo purchase balance, and equal monthly payments are required on promo purchase until it is paid in full. The estimated required monthly payment shown which excludes taxes and delivery equals the amount financed divided by the number of months in the promo period, rounded up to the next cent. During the last month(s) of the promo period the required monthly payment may be reduced due to this rounding. These payments apply only with the financing offer shown. If you make these payments by the due date each month, you should pay off this amount financed within the promo period, if it is the only balance you are paying off. If you have other balances on your account, this payment will be added to any other minimum monthly payments.
